No you copy from the hard drive and paste to the book file.
Kies is the program Samsung uses to support the Galaxy Tab you can download it for free from the Samsung web site. You need it if you ever want to update. When you first download and use it be sure you boot it first then plug in your GT to your computer.
SD is the memory card, there is an internal and you can buy an external card.

I'll pass that on. Sounds like it won't be too hard. Thanks!

Hi all, I have the Kindle app on my Galaxy 7 but all that shows on the screen are 3 free books (Treasure Island, Aesop's Fables & Pride & Prejudice). I can't see any menus or ways to download new books, etc. I'm stumped. I've tried tapping everywhere, long tap, etc, nothing. In the Kindle help section it mentions a "pane on the left", I don't have this "left pane".

I have the Kindle app for my iPhone & it has the "home" button that takes me to the main menu & Kindle store button, etc, the "home" button on the Android app is there but it doesn't do anything if I tap it.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

3 mins... not bad.. ;)

as a general rule on anything with android, tapping the menu button anywhere and everywhere can bring up some quite useful things..
it should be an android golden rule..

*If all else fails, tap the Menu button*

Hi, I've had my Tab 10.1 for less than a day now and am so far I'm really happy with the purchase.
I downloaded the Kindle app to get some books and have downloaded one book that I paid for (or so my girlfriend says!). When I go to read the book the screen brightness is cut by about 50% making it hard to read. I don't see any controls on the page to change the brightness and when I back out of the book to the homepage of Kindle the screen brightness goes back to the brightness I like. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong? - thanks.

In my Kindle App (seven inch, T-Mobile) I have to be viewing a page to bring up the brightness settings. From the page your reading it's MENU, VIEW OPTIONS, and brightness is the bottom toggle below font and contrast.

Hi 2way10,

harrise is correct in what he says about changing the Kindle setting once you are on a page but the other thing you need to do is check your TAB sytem settings.
Go into display settings-Brightness and uncheck auto brightness. This could be why it is diming.
Another thing I do to save battery life (I think) is to read my books in night mode so that the screen is black and the words are white. I also find this very restfuul on my eyes.

Using night mode does not significantly increase battery life, because the Tab uses a TFT-display. TFT employs a backlight that is constantly on. The pixels in the display adjust between an almost opaque state and a transparent state to make the pixel dark or light. If the display would have been an OLED-display, then a dark screen would actually consume considerably less energy than a light screen, because in that case all pixels are tiny LEDs.

To be more precise, I think Android does adjust the screen brightness depending on what is being displayed, but the effect is not comparable to an OLED-display. I don't know the details of this algorithm though.

also in settings>display there is one that is called 'power saving mode'

unticking that seems to have quite an effect on how well kindle displays..

on that page there are also contrast and colour density and saturation controls you can tweak to make things a bit more crisp..

Hey, thanks everyone for your responses, there's a lot of good information there. I was able to increase the brightness on the pages of the book. What I found was that there were three little dots at the bottom of the page, by tapping that I got some menu items, one being brightness. What's interesting to me is that the brightness control is separate for a book rather than being the system-wide controls.

On some of my books, the text in the Kindle app is not centered from left to right on the page..not even close. It's not cutting off any words, but is quite distracting. Other books are fine. I've just started using the Kindle app, and have only downloaded a handfull of books. The 2 that are not centered are the free Moby Dick, or, the whale and Anthem by Ayn Rand. Does anyone else have these loaded and are they centered? Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Monica

I am trying to get a Kindle book onto my Tab.

Here is what I have done so far.
My Tab came preloaded with Kindle Amazon.
I set up my account from the Galaxy tab by entering Amazon username and password. After doing that, I logged into Amazon and could see "Kathy's Android".

I borrowed a book from our library.
I can see it it in my Kindle Library.
I selected the "deliver to kathy's android"
I see a message that says it was delivered.

but
It does not make it to my Tab. The Tab says it has syncronized - many times.

What am I doing wrong? Or what else do I need to do?

I have a good selection of books on my Kindle app. I have been looking for another app that will convert/read the books to audio out. I have tried a few, but have not had any success. The end result is to listen to my kindle while commuting. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Sorry about the lack of clarity. It is not an mp3 player, I am looking for an ebook reader with text-to-voice capability. As I browsed these two, there was only reference to audio books, not ebooks. Am I looking for something that is not there? Thanks.

I suppose I am confused as my 7 plus has text to speech capabilities but you really wouldn't like to hear those electronic voices reading a book for too long. I just use Amazon Audible for my audio books.
So what I am saying is sorry but I do not understand what you want, probably my fault ;)

Bart Laroc has come up with this app, is this what you are looking for :unknw:

Mine was doing that also and my husband figured out that on my phone at the top right there is a "Aa" and you have to select that to make changes to the brightness and a few other options are available also. Thx FORUM!

Over the last few months my Kindle app has been regularly freezing. I can occasionally reverse out of it and then, after closing down all open apps, restart. However, more often than not I have to re-start my Tab.

Any suggestions as to what is causing this and how I can get Kindke to work without locking up?

Try Un-installing and re-installing the App again...

If it's a core App and you can't uninstall it....try clearing it's data & cache via

Settings / Programs / Manage Programs
