So, having never used Kindle in any way or on any other platform, I noticed that my Galaxy Tab had the Kindle software preloaded on it.

I've downloaded some of the free Kindle books, as well purchasing a couple of books. Now, when I go into the context-sensitive menu, I choose "Go To" and on the resulting list "go to" options, there is one for "My Notes & Marks..." I know what "Marks" are (the bookmarks that I have created), but what are "My Notes"?

How do I create notes in my books?

If I may, any page that you are reading on. If you touch and hold, a selection highlight will pop up. Select the text you want. You will see a menu pop up that gives "note/highlight/more" menu. Select note and the keyboard + text entry field will pop up. Make your note and click save.

Now when you goto the "My notes & Marks" menu you will see your note about the selected text. From there you can go to that page w/ the noted selection of text.

Hope that helps

That doesn't work for me (long-touch).

Nothing happens when I am long-touching, but when I let go, the title of the book appears at the top of the screen, while a "Location" indicator is at the bottom where I can scroll the bar back and forth to relocate my current page position. That's all I see.

FYI, I'm using v1.02.806000555 of the Kindle reader that came preinstalled on my Galaxy Tab (Verizon version).

I did a little research and evidently, we can't create notes for ourselves.

Check out this review of the Kindle on Android. Here's an excerpt (with my emphasis):

Quote

". . . though the menu has an entry for Go To My Notes & Marks, the app gives you no way to make notes, and no method to sync your Android bookmarks between devices. You can’t search the text, either."

Well. I downloaded the kindle app from the market. I was having sending errors at first. So I went to check for update.

I have no problem on mine. I think I remember seeing the go to position bar you mentioned before I downloaded from the market

You are abolutely correct!

I've downloaded and installed the latest version (v2.0.2.102300153) and all is well. I can make my own notes now.

Thanks!

Just keep your finger pressed on the book in the home screen and a sub menu comes up you delete from there.

Hi All,

I have just bought a SGT -P1010 and it has not come pre-loaded with Kindle is this because it is only a WiFi Tab?

If i bought a 3G one would the Kindle App come pre-loaded as i cant even download it from the Market as it is not listed then when i try to install it from the website with the Tab connected to my laptop it says that The application cant be installed in my country.

I have bought it from Amazon and if i can be sure that the 3G version comes with the app i will send this one back and buy the 3G version.

Thanks
Lee

Hi Lee-

I am pretty sure that there is a way to download the Kindle App. How about if you go on browser to amazon.com an download directly from them?
http://www.amazon.co...duct/B004DLPXAO

I did it on my VZW 3G TAB as well as my 3G iPad.

Hello All,

I am trying to give a free copy of my book to a friend. She has the Kindle App on the Galaxy Tablet. She has already downloaded the .prc file onto her tablet, but I can't figure out how to use the "open with" command on a Galaxy. Usually you right click on a file and then select "open with" and the program (Kindle App, in this case). At the moment, it won't open the file in the Kindle App, even though it should.

Anybody have any suggestions? I don't have a Galaxy yet, so not sure how to do this.

Thanks!

Boot up Kies, plug GT to PC and let it sink, double click your type of GT on Kies, double click internal SD, pick kindle books and copy the books you want to add and then disconnect GT from your PC reboot GT and your done.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if this will work since the file is on her in her email (saved to Hard drive) and not in the kindle app yet. I am trying to get it on the Kindle App. Also, what is Kies and SD? Thanks again!

No you copy from the hard drive and paste to the book file.
Kies is the program Samsung uses to support the Galaxy Tab you can download it for free from the Samsung web site. You need it if you ever want to update. When you first download and use it be sure you boot it first then plug in your GT to your computer.
SD is the memory card, there is an internal and you can buy an external card.
