I just bought a Tab4 (TM-230NU). It cannot complete a connection to my home Netgear N400 router. There are a few older posts on wifi topics, but nothing matches exactly or current for a Tab4.

What happens:
It cycles through a continuous sequence of "connecting" -> "saved/secure" -> "scanning". It never completes.

Router details:
The Netgear router is pretty new, and works fine with numerous iphones, PCs, Macs, TVs, etc.
I have between 6-12 other connections active, depending who is around.
Upgraded Router firmware and reset it
This issue happens on either the 2.4 or the 5.0 network.
Checked for latest software on the tab (while on Starbucks connection)

Other networks:
The Tab connected successfully immediately on to two public wifi networks I visited (Starbucks and Peets).

I've spent hours trying different settings on tab and router, including WPS button or pin, and trying a static IP.
I saw comments on trying different channel, but i"m not sure how to change this, or what effect it has on other devices. It's set to "auto"
I tried a static IP entry using a non-active IP address (10.0.0.7)

As an Apple user, I'm surprised by this first experience with Android device, but online I see that marginal wifi connection behavior seems to be common with various Tabs for years. Anyway I'm at my wits end how to resolve this. without Wifi it's basically useless!

Thanks for your help
