Hello all (or anyone who gets to read this).
I'm new to the tablet world and just got a Tab S2.
Nicely loaded with MS Word and Excel, which was one of the main reasons for getting it.
I want to use it mainly at home, so I need to connect it to my home network, and its NAS box.
After googling "map network drive" and searching several forums I've installed ES File Explorer and managed to connect to the NAS.
Using ES FE, I can see files on the NAS, open and work on them, but when I save changes, the tab does so to a local copy, not back to the NAS.
I don't use or need cloud storage - I just want the changes to go back to the original on the NAS.
When opeing files from MS Word or Excel, there are locations for on-tab folders, SD card, and plenty of cloud options, but I'm darned if I can find a way opening a NAS file from a mapped drive, and then saving it back there when I'm done.
Can anyone help please?
It's frustrating to the point of sending the Tab back as useless.
But it's so fundamental, it must be possible, surely?
Thanks

In my experience, ES File Explorer will copy files into the tab where I may work on them, but I may only save them LOCALLY when finished. After saving, it is possible to transfer the changed and saved files back to the original location be it PC HDD or NAS. To find the original location again on the network, in File Explorer I must SCAN and then do the transfer of the file. Sorry. It is a bit clunky.
