I am using a external microphone which is plugged into the headphone outlet (via a splitter). This is now muting my internal speaker, and ideally I do not want to add a external speaker which I could plug into the other port of the splitter. Is there a setting where I could use the external microphone but not mute the internal speakers at the same time ? So I would have to choose internal speaker instead of headphone if that's possible

I doubt it..... I believe once you plug anything in the audio jack, it will automatically mute the internal speakers ...

That's what I thought. The weird thing is, with the headphone plug in, my Tasker messages are muted as well as keyboard clicks, but I have some text to speech coming from my home automation system, and that is still coming out of the internal speakers !!! Not that I understand how and why.
