Hello. I have a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GT-P5110). I also have a GoPro Hero 3 camera which I use a lot, and I would like to watch the movies directly on my tablet without converting them on my PC first. The GoPro records on a SD-card, and I take the SD-card and insert it in the tablet. When I play the video on my tablet, the video is jerky and jumps around. I have tried several different players (MX player, Dice player, original player) but the problem is the same. Originally I was recording in 1080p, but I have now gone down to 720p 60 fps and the problem is the same.

I tried converting the videos using VidCon software, and then the problem is gone. However, the converting process takes a VERY long time and I don´t want to do that.

I can watch the videos on my phone (Galaxy S4) with no problem ! But the tab 2 10.1 cannot handle it...

How can I solve this ? Is the video card in the tab the limitation ? Should I get a better tablet ?

Mike.

Hello! Yes, I have the latest firmware update. I´m using a class 10 SD card as recommended. It doesn´t matter if I copy the video file from the SD card to the internal memory of the tablet, the problem is still the same.

What format does the Gopro record in?

I use my tab to view videos recorded on my HD dash cam.
They're AVI format and pretty much any player plays them well.

Worth checking the settings and playing around with the H/W and S/W decoder settings in the player.
Some file formats are better in one decoder, others in another.

Hello again!

The GoPro records in MP4 format. Nothing strange there. I haven´t played around with the settings in any of the players, so maybe I will try that next. In the camera there are several settings which I have experimented with (PAL or NTSC. 1080p, 720p, 60 fps, 120 fps, etc). My first thoughts were that 1080p was too much for the tablet to handle (video card limitation), but even with 720p and 60 fps it cannot handle it. The sound is okay, but the picture is "lagging" and jumping ahead in steps.

If I use the GoPro app, then I can watch the movies OK on the tablet through WiFi from the camera. However, the app reduces the video quality dramatically so it´s not the same picture. It´s very handy for just checking how the recording turned out, but not suitable for actually enjoying the movie if you know what I mean.

Mike.
