I use the keyboard more than the notes app.

Dear Cybersmoke,
I've got 7Notes now (english version https://play.google....HJvZHVjdGVuIl0. , but japanese is also available). and it's absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much!!! Can't believe it never popped up on either Samsung apps or Google Play sites when I searched on "handwriting." It is just what I needed. Thank you thank you thank you!

But when I went SETTINGS>SECURITY>FIND MY MOBILE>REMOTE CONTROL to log into my Samsung account another keyboard appeared with the T/pencil image. This brought up handwriting which works and you can go back to normal keyboard.
If you leave it on handwriting and go to Polaris Office handwriting comes up straight away but you can not get back to normal keyboard without going back to where you got it in settings.

Original keyboard had separate buttons for T/pencil and microphone.
The new keyboard has combined one button into three functions, this button is to the left of the space bar but also note three dots top right of button. All you have to do is push and hold which gives you access to three functions, microphone, T/pencil and cog for settings.
In the pic of your new keyboard that you published is a cog push it and hold it, that should give you access. This is on the actual keyboard not the logo that brings up 7notes etc.
Hopes that make sense.

Keith, you are right! I had always tapped the cog... never held it in. So the function was there all along, they just moved it to a different button. Why could no one at Samsung tell us this? They should pay you for this! I can't thank you enough! How did you figure it out? Alix

Just came about by not giving up and I must have left my finger for too long on that button which brought up the other options.
Looking around this appears to be a problem for many.
Still waiting for response from Samsung.

Hi All, new user here. Just tried this by holding the button with three dots/cog. All I got was the microphone and the cog. So apparently not all keyboards are the same.

Any suggestions to try?
Thanks.

I doubt that the keyboards are different but there could well be a switch that has hidden the other button. I can get it to go to 2 buttons - T and cog - by turning off micrphone in settings. Try opening Polaris and see what keyboard you get then.

Appreciate the reply. But unfortunately I don't see the "T" anywhere. Turning the microphone of does nothing, the cog button is visible but the three dots are gone. holding the cog button does nothing. The Polaris shows the same keyboard.

I purchased 7note to use when I had the problem which is now causing me problems. When using restore to edit mode came up, so I removed app and re-installed except the Set Up screen kept flashing so you could not set up. Eventually got through set up but restore to edit mode started again.
This appears to be a problem within 7notes own note system, Polaris seems to work ok.
More research to do.

was doing an e-mail and she was speaking and the darn thing
did a pretty good job of voice recognition, and fast too.
She didn't try holding the cog key to see if the write function
would appear. Anyway, she sent 3 e-mails without touching the keyboard.
I have a couple questions about forum use.
I wanted to subscribe to this thread, but figured out the only
way is to make a post and then you can check subscribe. there
must be a way to subscribe without posting a reply?
Second question, is there a way to jump ahead to go to first
unread post since your last visit?
thanks, Douglas

After speaking with Toshi at 7notes, I reinstalled again a lot of flickering.
He suggested under Settings> Developer Options>UI remove all ticks. Show Touches was ticked so removed that but made no difference. Then below UI was Apps I removed Do not keep activities, it then settled down and I can now use your note taking memos. So all working again at present.

My P3113 4.0.4 has a different keyboard yet. I don't know how to include a screenshot here to show you, but my button on the left of the space bar is for smilies only.
I bought this for its handwriting abilities too. I use Graffitti for now. The Jot stylus works very well, but I want Samsung's handwriting!

So, this tells me there are multiple options hidden in this thing. The problem is how to go about it to put the "right" keyboard to use.. Hopefully, somebody will stumble on it.

I used the app Better Cut to access the Samsung keyboard options and found under Korean Keypad settings you can select handwriting, but it does not help. There are other hidden options for recognition time/type, pen options, gesture guide.
