Poetic Hardback Protective Case for the Tab 2 7.0. Amazon $15.

Materials and construction. Faux leather exterior (that smells mostly real) and microfiber liners. Hard plastic clips covered in faux leather to hold the Tab securely. The outer faux-leather cover is embossed with a good leather grain. No errors, rough edges or flaws that I can see. There is an embossed logo on the lower right corner.

Fit and protection. Designed for the Tab 2 and fits very well. Covered clips (I assume they are a hard plastic underneath) hold the device- the 'lower' two allow the Tab to pivot out to use the front cover as a stand. All features seem to be accessible. The front and back are well-protected, and the corners are protected by the clips. I don't know how much the clips would help in a hard fall.
- When in use, it makes the 3/8" thick Tab 2 about 13/16ths of an inch thick- not bad for all the benefits you get.

Functionality. This is an 'easel' case, where the bottom of the Tab comes forward to rest on the inside of the front cover. It allows a couple viewing angles in landscape, and the hard cover can hold the Tab upright in the portrait mode. There is a handy elastic/faux leather hand strap to let you securely hold it that I find comes in very handy (you can also tuck notes and such under it). The unit also features a stylus loop, but it is held entirely outside the case. Another curved plastic clip holds the cover closed, and this can be reinforced with another elastic strap.

Pros:
- Good looks
- Moderate price ($15)
- Good fit

Cons:
- Stylus may flop around, and sort of blocks the power and volume controls

So far, this is my favorite folio-style case- a nice blend of thinness, fit, quality, and price.

I just purchased an Otterbox Defender for my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 on friday at Best Buy. It's built like a tank. Not the smallest case, but it does what I want it too. Paid 69.99 for it, pricey but worth it to me. It has a removable hard cover so the tablet is protected all over. Built in screen protector is nice too. I had searched for this case on Amazon with no luck. I saw it listed on the Otterbox web site but it is listed as "coming soon". I was actually surprised to find it at Best Buy. If your looking for a tough case for your tablet, or just about any other mobile device I personaly don't think you can beat Otterbox.

I'm keen on getting the Poetic Hardback Protective Case but have been advised to get a Smart Case. Is that good advice (sorry very new to Tabs!)

I'm looking for a case for my tab 2 7 inch. My 6 year old daughter plays with it a lot so I need something with a little extra protection. I was given the otterbox for it for Christmas, but am afraid it will add to much bulk to the tablet. I enjoy the thinness of it now...suggestions?

Kinda like saying you want to 500HP car that will do 0-60mph in 3 seconds, but it has to get 50mpg. Posted Image
A nice thin case is designed to prevent scratches and provide a little extra stiffness while retaining the tablet's portability, but won't help much if dropped. For kid use, you want something that is thick and somewhat cumbersome because it will have more "give" so that when it is dropped, the case takes the shock instead of transferring that force to the device possibly cracking the screen or whatever. Also, those thicker cases tend to be shaped for better grip to prevent them dropping it in the first place. That otter-box case looks like it would work nicely despite its bulk to be honest.

Instead of trying to find a case that will provide the thinness you like while trying to be solid enough for a 6 year-old, how about getting your daughter her own tablet? There are "kid tablets" out there with beefy cases. Or, you could get her a cheaper 7" tablet so a broken tablet isn't as costly - or giving her yours with the Otterbox and getting a new one for yourself? Yeah, that's probably an expensive alternative - just thought I'd throw that out there.

I know where you're coming from though. When I got my wife a Tab for Christmas, my 4-year old daughter inherited the old Kindle Fire. It actually is holding up pretty well so far even without a case at all. The charge port is getting loose, but it was doing that even before she got a hold of it.

yeah, unfortunately getting her a tablet right now isn't an option. Maybe for her birthday, in August, but not right now. Soo....I guess I have some deciding to do.

I bought a Rocketfish cover for mine. It's a universal 7" cover that serves it's purpose. You can find them at Best Buy. I think mine was under $25. It also acts as a stand.

Man why doesn't anyone seem to make a good case for this tab? Tons of el cheapo rubbery $5 ones and then a ton of those folio ones with the book cover front I can't stand.

Doesn't anyone make a nice hard shell w/silicone interior?

Got one on eBay. 11.95 free shipping and no tax. It's a tri fold folio with a magnet to keep the cover closed. Fits perfect on the GT 2 7.0. The tablet snaps in the case tightly, and it adds minimal bulk. All ports and rear facing camera usable. The cover folds back completely, so it's easy to hold with it open or closed. I'm pretty picky and I'm happy with this.

Here's the link (scroll down for detailed pics, they are accurate)
http://www.ebay.com/...ME:L:OU:US:3160

It comes with a screen protector and stylus, I doubt I'll use either. Not sure if it's real leather, I doubt it, but the quality seems good.
It took 4 days to ship.

Just ordered the Samsung Book Cover. I was looking more for the official cover than a third party cover. That's just me though.

Hi. Ordered a pretty basic revolving stand case for my Galaxy Tab 2 (7") GT-P3110

Not only have they sent the wrong size case (too tall & narrow with screen cam hole in the centre top), but it doesn't look great quality either.

I'm not turning up many results googling 'best Galaxy Tab 2 cases', as it's just showing a million eBay entries...

I was wondering does anyone out there know of particularly good but reasonably priced stand/cases I can get easily here in the UK, or maybe you've seen a review page with a load of them on? I see most of the links on here are for US sites.... Needs to completely enclose the tab when not in use, and act as a stand when I need it...

Cheers.

Hi.

I've ordered two cases now, assured by sellers that they'd fit my tab, but neither does. I feel like I'm going crazy.

My tab is the GT-P3110 (taken directly from 'about device' and measures approx 193mm x 122mm (4.8" x 7.6" x .41") - as is the spec on the Samsung site.

I managed to get a screen protector that fits, but as part of the order, this warning was issued:

"There are two different version for Tab 2, one is P3100 3G & WIFI, the other is P3110 WIFI.

Please leave a message if you would like P3110 WIFI when you make orders as we normal send P3100 off to customers."

So I was able to get the right one by specifying the former.

How can I find a case and guarantee it's going to fit my tab when the two I already ordered said they'd fit but didn't?

I'm happy with this cover: http://www.amazon.co...1?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It does add a bit of weight and thickness at the edge, but fits all the controls perfectly. It's a bit of a dust magnet, but that's the nature of the silicone surface. Also, I have to remove the cover for use with my credit card swiper.

Along with the Zagg screen protector, I've got a fully protected unit with easy (no cover to flip back) access.
