In Topic: Media Scanner can't detect files
27 May 2012 - 05:41 PM
I just bought a new tab 8.9 and I could not get any of my music or photos that I moved from my PC to the tablet to show up in the tablet's Music Player or the Gallery. The music player would display "NO SONGS". On the tablet, I could open and listen/view the files using My Files app or the ES File Explorer app. It seems the Media Scanner would never run, which caused the new files not to display on any the apps after I dragged and dropped the files into the Music, Photos or even the root directory.
The Media Scanner finally started working after I dragged and dropped the music and picture files on my PC directly into the "GT-7310 Portable Media Player" icon under PORTABLE DEVICES at the MY COMPUTER screen. Once I dragged and dropped, SYNCHRONIZING would display on the tablet, then MEDIA SCANNING would display. After that, my files would show up when I clicked on the tablet's Music Player or Gallery app.
I am not sure why the media scanner would not run initially, but it now seems to run automatically every time I move a file since I did the drag and drop directly to the tablet at the MY COMPUTER window.
I hope this helps!
