Android apps on a Galaxy

Hi - can I assume that any app that runs on an Android phone will also run on a Galaxy, or must I see "for Galaxy" in the description?

Some don't (I shake my fist at NFL mobile), but most do. So far I've only come across two that I wanted that don't yet (Both Verizon...the company that I bought the tablet from).

I assume that they all do in general, but that Verizon is run by morons.
