So, having never used Kindle in any way or on any other platform, I noticed that my Galaxy Tab had the Kindle software preloaded on it.
I've downloaded some of the free Kindle books, as well purchasing a couple of books. Now, when I go into the context-sensitive menu, I choose "Go To" and on the resulting list "go to" options, there is one for "My Notes & Marks..." I know what "Marks" are (the bookmarks that I have created), but what are "My Notes"?
How do I create notes in my books?

If I may, any page that you are reading on. If you touch and hold, a selection highlight will pop up. Select the text you want. You will see a menu pop up that gives "note/highlight/more" menu. Select note and the keyboard + text entry field will pop up. Make your note and click save.
Now when you goto the "My notes & Marks" menu you will see your note about the selected text. From there you can go to that page w/ the noted selection of text.
Hope that helps

That doesn't work for me (long-touch).
Nothing happens when I am long-touching, but when I let go, the title of the book appears at the top of the screen, while a "Location" indicator is at the bottom where I can scroll the bar back and forth to relocate my current page position. That's all I see.
FYI, I'm using v1.02.806000555 of the Kindle reader that came preinstalled on my Galaxy Tab (Verizon version).

I did a little research and evidently, we can't create notes for ourselves.
Check out this review of the Kindle on Android. Here's an excerpt (with my emphasis):

". . . though the menu has an entry for Go To My Notes & Marks, the app gives you no way to make notes, and no method to sync your Android bookmarks between devices. You can’t search the text, either."

Well. I downloaded the kindle app from the market. I was having sending errors at first. So I went to check for update.
I have no problem o
n mine. I think I remember seeing the go to position bar you mentioned before I downloaded from the market

I just checked my kindle version and it is different from yours. I recommend grabbing the one from the market

You are abolutely correct!
I've downloaded and installed the latest version (v2.0.2.102300153) and all is well. I can make my own notes now.
Thanks!
