Hello,
Just got my new Tab, and have plugged it in to charge. I'm being well-behaved and not turning it on until it's charged as directed by the user guide, but there's a problem....I don't have any indicator to let me know when the battery is full. When I first plugged it in, a battery symbol flashed up briefly, but now nothing. How do I know when it's finished?

My Tab gives a bleep to say it is fully charged. It didn't take that long as I remember for the first charge - even now from telling you to charge the battery to getting the bleep to say it's fully charged is only a couple of hours at most.

At any time, you can give the On/Off button a quick press and the battery indicator will display again for a short while.
When the battery is fully charged, you will get a chime from the Tab to let you know....

Obviously a defective battery; have it replaced ASAP while it's still under warranty.
OT: How long does your battery normally last on a full charge? Mine's a little over a day with normal texting, playing games, surfing, etc.

I have exactly the same problem with SGT, I eventually solved it by prying open the tab, disconnect and connect the battery back, it works perfectly after that. Please refer to links which I have shared with the rest of the guys in X-developers http://forum.xda-dev...t=986067&page=3 . My name in the forum is henrylam. Hope it helps.

I just took my Galaxy Tab to the Samsung Service Center with the same issue. They confirmed this is a known issue, they know how to fix it, and it is definitely covered under warranty. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the nice woman to divulge the details of the cause. The most I could get out of her was that they've seen this problem more than few times.

Does the GT-P1010 battery have a memory, that is, charging when half full, not letting it run down periodically, ...? Does this affect battery life? Does the battery have a memory thus need to fully discharge periodically?

Lithium-ion batteries batteries last longest if the battery is frequently charged; fully discharging them will degrade their capacity relatively quickly.
The Tab shows a warning, when the battery is low & needs recharging. i find the best practise is to use the usb to pc charger or in car charger when in use if possible ( this keeps battery loss at a minimum)
if thats not possible then use the mains charger to top up when needed & definately when the Tab warns you

Great, so you tend to "trickle" charge over "normal" charge, i.e., via the USB versus the main power connector
Thanks

if its available, if not then just use the mains charger
the only time i used the mains charger solely, was just after i purchased the Tab, then i charged it on the mains to 100%, ran it until the Tab warned me it needed a charge, then charged it to 100% again on the mains, to set the battery pattern in the firmware

I find that when my battery goes completely flat I lose all my settings.
I get the screen I had when I first bought the SGT and have to edit in and out all of the apps that I want, I have lost all the contacts and web bookmarks.
Is this normal?
It doesn't seem right.
Also, It sometime has a black screen with yellow writing and a blue set of options.
Why does it not hold my customised settings?
Please help as it is so annoying I could just get rid of the thing.

I,ll say it b4 anyone else does, why are you letting it go flat?
Samsung built in a 'Low Battery Warn' which activates at 15%
Try moving the apps that disapear to external sd if possible.
Otherwise il leave it open for the other guys and gals as ive never let my tab run out of juice.

Hi
I purchased the Tab P1010 around 2 weeks ago and have had one or two problems with the unit which are getting a little annoying.
Firstly, the unit has been left without being turned off and the battery has run flat. When I come to start the tab I still have all my apps, but the unit is in some sort of factory reset with all my settings gone. This has happened twice. Looking on this forum I found this thread link, where I guy receives information stating it could be corrupt data popping up occasionally.. the internal drive may be damaged, or it could have a bad memory chip.
I don't really want to send the unit back to Ebuyer.com at the moment as I believe It'll be sent on to Samsung and I won't see it for a month. Any ideas please.
Secondly, as per this thread link my tab "home" and "search" buttons have stopped working. They vibrate but nothing happens. I have actually sorted this out by plugging it into Kies but wanted to know why this happened if possible.
Has my unit got damaged software? Will a full factory reset sort the problem?
Cheers for any help.
Chris

Has anyone replaced the internal battery successfully? How hard is it to do? I looked at a video on how to remove the backing on the GTab and it looks to be a pain in the rear. I am just thinking long term since I expect to own my tab for at least a year or two and there's a possbility the battery will need replacing.

Personally, I'd take mine to a Samsung Repair Centre.
At least you would have a guarantee to accompany your new battery.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, after factory reset all buttons work fine.
Do you have more information why this happens?
