Hi Guys,

Just purchased my new Galaxy Tab, loving it and everything is working perfectly except for the 16G internal memory :( .

When I check the storage, internal Memory shows up "UNAVAILABLE". I tried format the internal memory, factory reset it and as well hard reset it but regardless what I do it ends up with the same result.

I also tried my external 4G micro SD Card and this too was not detected by the Tab. Has anybody came across this problem? Please help my overcome this problem, being search the whole internet all day and got nothing.

Thanks all in advance.

Its not internal memory your looking for. Its external sd card.
Download astro from the market to manage your files. Internal sd is the built in memory.

Hi scottyf79,

Astro doesn't seem to be helping. From the sound of it Astro is more of a file management application but my problem is and I reckon is that my built in 16G memory is not mounted properly.

When I go to Settings ] SD card and phone storage ] Internal memory shows up UNAVAILABLE.
Also if I go to Task Manager ] Summary ] Internal SD card shows up as 0.00B/0.00B. Eternal SD card also show up as 0.00B/0.00B even though I have a 4GB card inserted.

I'm new to this product but that doesn't seem right to me. It should have 14G available as 2G is reserved for the OS from what I read.

That looks weird to me too ? You should have values in all areas on that page..

I see you have the latest firmware so it shouldn't be that either.

I think you have probably done all you can, but just to be safe, I think I would run that one past Samsung Support, to see what they say......

Well Samsung phone support didn't help at all. They advised me to go take it to the service centre. :(

But a bit of good news, I tried the hard reset again but this time I also applied the patch for the sdcard and my internal memory is now showing up, external still doesn't work though (when I insert my external sd, my internal disappears) :(.

Can the Tab take 4G external SD Card or does it have to be 16G or 32G card only?? But then again, even if my external card doesn't work there is no reason for my internal to disappear with it when external card is inserted.

damn, so it looks like I still have a problem.
I do notice one thing though, even though I can't use my external SD Card when is inserted, if I remove it from the slot the TAB comes up with a message saying SDCARD removed. so it does seem like is detected but for whatever reason is not mounting it.

I might hold off sending to the service centre and order a new SD Card. Was your card formatted to FAT32 Scotty?

No never formatted, just fired it in. Used astro to make sure there were no folders, unmounted it then remounted. The only 2 folders that seemed to go in after remounting were .Android_secure and LOST.DIR.

While this seems like an old issue already (hopefully resolved). It's also possible that shakugan might have purchased a fake microSD (or even a damaged one).

I wonder if he/she tried using other microSDs to see if that would rule out the SD card problem.
