Hi KC, on the home screen tap Menu-About Device-Status- scroll down and you will see-Serial Number this maybe what you need. by the way where are you from.

I even viewed the serial number with a magnifing glass to confirm it.
I did call via phone and the service person took my info and said he would register my tab on his end.
The problem is with Samsungs web site! Not you eyes!

Just bought the device a week ago and have not registered yet.
I found that the serial number are all zeroes (Setting>About Device>Status). Is that normal?
How to find the Serial Number?
You are looking in the correct place but you should not see Zeros. Your SN should be there. Out of curiosity, do you see any other numbers, your mac address, Ip address etc etc in status.
You will also find your SN and your IMEI number should be on the back on your Tab, in very small print. (not the CE number) Suggest you use a big magnifying glass to read them, lol.
