I just got my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and am unable to find instructions on how to sync (or at least do a one-time transfer) of my Windows Live Mail Contacts to the Tablet. Surely, there's a way to do this and it's just not obvious to me. Thanks so much.

Your Windows Live contacts should sync if you setup your Windows Live email on the Galaxy Tab 10.1. That's the easiest way for you to get your Windows Live contacts on your Tab, imho.

Thank you for the fast reply. I did set up the email account and checked all the relevant boxes for sync; but, no contacts. I phoned Samsung and, to my amazement, they say there is not a way to do this....that I will have to type the contacts in from scratch........incredible!! When she sensed I had fainted at the other end of the phone, the Tech Support person said she would look into this closer and get back to me next week. I have my fingers and toes crossed she will discover a method to do this.

But I do this on mine and it works perfectly

Are you setting up as a mail account in the mail app or as an exchange account under the accounts section?

You have to use the latter to make it work

My calendar from my Hotmail account even syncs

freetoroam2,
I did some research before posting my reply, and it does seem like this should work. When you setup the account, there is a check box to sync contacts. Ensure this is checked, and it should work. I just tested it myself on my Tab 10.1 using my Hotmail account, and it worked without issue, though it's taking a little while to download all the contacts.

Here's what I did.....

Went into Settings.........Accounts & Sync..........+Add Account.....
Here I get 4 choices of account.....1. Corporate, 2. Email, 3. Google Accounts, or 4. Samsung account
I chose Email, filled in the email address & password, hit Next. Checked all the little boxes for Sync.

I received a message stating my account was set up and email was on its way..
Sure enough, all the email popped right in..........BUT there is no mention anywhere of synching CONTACTS......

Also, there's no mention anywhere of a choice for an Exchange Account.

Where am I going wrong?

Is it a WiFi tab, or does it have 3G? How long ago did you get it? I've looked through my tab, and I don't have those 4 options... I actually have a lot more, including twitter, facebook, Exchange Active Sync... But just selecting email, it was fine. Your email is either @hotmail.com or @live.com right? I'm not sure how it works if you're using a non-Windows Live email account, that could be part of the issue... Maybe check to make sure what version of the OS you are running. (You should have that in Settings under About.)

It is a Wi-Fi Tab, 16 GB...just got it 2 days ago. Android Version 3.1, Model # GT-P7510, Kernel version 2.6.36.3 (I have to confess I don't know what that is). I'm technically challenged.

My email is @yahoo.com and the contacts are in Windows Live Mail.

Everything else working perfectly, love the unit.....just can't seem to get the Contacts. Maybe I'm obsessing too much and should just type them in and move on.

Thanks so much for your input and help on this. I'm just stumped.

Thanks, I'll try that. I have to create a Gmail account on my PC since I don't have one already. Since I'm traveling, I just typed in a few of the critical contacts on the tab. Will try this though since I'd like to have my full contact list.

Beyond this little obstacle, the tab seems to work really well. Thank you for your suggestion.
