Hi all, have another strange one :)

Am trying to use Titanium backup to backup all my apps etc.

In its preferences I told it to back up to the sdcard.

However, somethings odd with my paths.

/mnt/sdcard is where it created the directory, but /mnt/sdcard appears to be the internal memory location on my tablet for all the installed apps etc, such as copilot, ebooks, movies etc.

In /mnt/sdcard I have another directory called external_sd which is the actual external sd.

So when I install any app and tell it to use the sdcard it's using the internal memory at /mnt/sdcard rather than /mnt/sdcard/external_sd

Any suggestions please?

Thanks

I can get Titanium to backup to the sdcard by selecting the correct path in it's preference, but it still doesn't get round that when I tell other apps etc to use the sdcard, it's using the internal mem.

Might try wiping /mnt/sdcard completely, reflash tablet and see what happens.

Tried reloading and factory reset, same thing happens.

I suppose it's an internal sdcard so technically the path /mnt/sdcard is correct?

However, if I go into settings and move any application to the sdcard, while it thinks it's on the sdcard (now shows up as "Move to device" rather than "Move to SD card" in "Applications/manage Applications"), it's still in exactly the same place, /mnt/sdcard and not on /mnt/sdcard/external_SD.

Well its got me baffled

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Have you tried re-formatting your external_sd card in your Tab, and then transfer an App/Game to it via "Manage applications".

You will know then what has been transferred to your external_sd card by checking it with a File Manager....ES File Explorer is one of the best :)

Thanks

Just tried it, still no luck :(

Unmounted the sdcard, reformatted it and was left with the following two directories on it.

.android_secure
LOST.DIR

I went into applications and moved kindle, Audible, Iplayer and BBC news all to SDcard.

They now think their on there, giving me the option to move them to the device.

But they are still on the device and I still have just the same 2 directories and 14.82GB free out of 14.83GB

Really odd.

I see there's a /sdcard which is is linked to /mnt/sdcard also.

It looks like somewhere, something is set to point to either /sdcard or /mnt/sdcard instead of /mnt/sdcard/external_sd but what and where is anyones guess.

[stock ROM] Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread p1000xxjq1 p1000xxjq1 p1000xxjpz" plus the routed kernal as in the instructions in that thread

Might try as I have nothing much installed or set up, going for a different rom, the Overcome rom and see what happens then

It is a real, not fake sdcard

weird

Don't know if it helps, but just realised something.

On the settings, sd card and device storage,

the sdcard info is for the external sd card, and the USB storage info is for the internal sdcard storage

Well I put the Overcom ROM on following the instructions to the letter (putting stock rom on first etc) and I STILL have the same problem lol. But glad I gave it a go as I really like this ROM and will probably stick with it.

Giving up on it for now. It's not something I ever done in the past so cant say whether it worked before I upgraded to Gingerbread or not.

I'll just stick all my music, audio books, movies etc on the external sound card and see how things go with internal space. If the movies playback too slow from the external card (haven't tried) I can simply move whichever TV show I want to watch to the internal first..

Hmm, I just discovered something interesting (well interesting to me with my problem)

I created a directory called Audible on my external sd card and transferred all my audio books from my PC.

I then installed the Audible app on my tablet.

Not only did it automatically find the books on the external drive, but it's also placing all it's temporary files/bookmarks in there too.

I went onto my file manager and checked, no Audible folder at all on my internal SD card

So that's working exactly as I would like (although if I go into settings/applications/manage applications, it still has the option to move to sd card).
