Now that I think of it, they are probably just having production capacity problems.

Not they would probably come from the same factory, but I now notice that the 32Gb version of the SGT (...that seemed to be "just around the corner" by Xmas...) is also taking a long time to come out, here in Europe. (...although they do seem to already be around in the USA).

GK

Just did a little search on google and found this (in UK) : ^^

http://www.pricerunn...-Compare-Prices

Again, a mistake in the price and the availability, or a fake ??? !!!

I just ordered mine (a 16 GB version) on Amazon.uk for the same price £ 359 and it should come to my home within a few days (close to my door) ! :(

EDIT :

In fact, we have to clearly read the description to understand that this a a 16 GB model with an additionnal 16 GB micro SD ! <_< :pardon:

Clever ads...

I saw that Apple has the same kind of accessory called Camera connection kit. It looks like it is exactly the same adaptator but don't know if it is compatible with the SGT.

The vendor won't let me test it. :nea:

But if you know someone (an Apple owner) who has it and if you could test and make a report ? ^^

It costs about 30 €.

It should not work, as the connection at the bottom of the SGT, although looking similar to the one on Apple devices, is actually a different, proprietary one.

I never tried the Camera Connection Kit from Apple but I already tried a simple Apple charging cord plug in the SGT and it won't fit.

Well.. here it is almost May and still no sign of a camera kit!
I am travelling in Turkey, and like you GK, am using my GT to edit and cull images.
I really like the form factor and the general idea of this device, but am frustrated continually by Samsung's "dropping the ball" on this and other seemingly basic functions.
Be that as it may, I appreciate the pointed and helpful discussion on this thread.
Not many of those floating about in the GT forums!

yes, that's really a shame from Samsung. I'm myself awaiting about this kit for a long time.

But if you really need this feature, you could at least buy an alternative which is called Mobidapter. Not really friendly in term of "engineering" or size, but at least it should work.

I found out some resellers in the US selling it for a fair price (about $33), but the delivery fee is quite high, more than the price of the device.

At least, a german reseller if pricing it for 33 € (ex VAT : 19%) and 10 € postage delivery. The cheapest I could find for now).
Ask for confirmation though.

You can get it from www (dot)hacker-datentechnik (dot)de or mail to md (at) hacker-datentechnik (dot)de.

Ask Monika.

I won't get any commission nor cash if you tell her you got the information from me... ;)

I have just had the mediadapt device delivered and confirm that it works fine with CF cards to 8gb, transferring the .jpg files from CR2+ .jpg images ex my canon 7D.

I haven't yet been able to get it to read either my 4gb or 8gb SDHC cards.

Its a bit of a tacky solution (it seems a great lump to stick into the micr SD port)

(I asked one of the liked suppliers if the "Samsung kit" was real or Vapourware and he told me they had no idea if it would ever be developed by Samsung so were removing it from their catalogue)

It's a shame that there are microSD to SD adapters but not the other way around! They do exist.. on the interweb, but is a niche item. That and external battery (which DOES exist now) is the only thing I need to make the SGT a netbook-replacer.

However... if the Tab can play nice with those wifi-equipped fancy new compacts, there's the solution!

I saw it at some book and stationery megastore here in Singapore. Will get one to test as I drain my battery fast using my Tab in support of motorcycle road trips. There is a 2000 mah one and a huge 6000 mah one ($60 and $120 Singapore dollars approximately)

R u talking about charging or external usb access if external usb access..than look on samsungs website... they do have a USB adaptor that u can hook up to the 30 pin port...so that u can access cameras, mouses, keyboards, thumb drives, etc...here it is http://www.samsung.c.../EPL-1PL0BEGSTA its right there it even says what it can do in the small description...it costs only $19.99. It works on the galaxy tab 10.1... it should work on 7 too according to the product support.....any other questions?

Feel free to buy one and let us know if it works.. It says nothing about being compatible with the older tabs..

if you type gt-p into 'Will this accessory work with my Product' bit it shows the WiFi only version (p1010), but if you enter that it then says
'Your Product is not compatible!
This accessory is not guaranteed to work with your Product.'

It may work.. but then it may turn a 7" into a very expensive paperweight..

It's got a different part number to the one announced for the original Tab, however, it is also out of stock :(

I'm calling vapourware on this adaptor at the moment

The Apple Camera connector does not work with SGT and it does even not fit inside the port. Can't plug it in !!! :(

Android Froyo does support USB input, only if Samsung have added the divers for it. But we will never know as we don't even a connector for testing... ^^

Even the crappy Froyo for the Archos supports more or less USB Input, depending on the model (10.1" or 7"), and depending also of the power required by the USB device...
Sounds like the Archos 10.1" Tab delivered enough power in most case.

if there are drivers for the 7".. then they wont be released until well after the 10.1 and 8.9 hype has calmed down.. they dont want anything to take away glory from the newbies..
the promised adapter for the 7" never got released, so this one may just go the same way..
