The battery on my tab was quarter to half charged when I switched it off last night. This morning I decided to charge it up, but the machine is completely dead and won't switch on. When I plugged in the charger there was still no response. It has supposedly been on charge now for over three hours but is still completely dead. What could the cause possibly be?

I have the same problem with my GTab. It's completely dead. I didnt use it for several days and when i check it the device was power off. First i try to switch it on and nothing happen, i thought it was just fully drained so i plugged in the charger but still no response. There is no battery-charging indicator and it has been charge for several hours already. I also tried pressing and holding the power button for the hard reset but still no response. the device is completely dead. What should i do? my tab is barely new and slightly used.

Hold the power button and the up volume button and see if it will go into recovery or hold the power button and the down volume button to go into download mode. If neither one of these work then the battery might be totally drained, at that point you will need to call samsung support. They might have to replace the battery. Could be a faulty battery.

Several times I've come back to the GT and found it shut down, even fully charged. It also shuts down and freezes in the middle of mundane tasks like surfing in Firefox or typing email. Three times the device froze when typing into this forumn (with FireFox). I have had the GT since Monday and so far don't feel like it is at all stable.

It's me again. I was introduced to Advanced Task Manager and shut down a few apps I installed. So far my GT is running just fine since yesterday. Time will tell, but I'm optimistic that it was some rogue app throwing problems at me all week.

hye all,
i'm from Malaysia, bought this tab last 3 month at Samsung centre in KL, same problem occur. When i call centre, she said a lot of customer got the same problem. if so, why don't Samsung recall all and identify the defect before reaching customer ?

I just got my 10.1 a week ago and it's already done it three times (same symptoms - seemingly completely dead, unplugging/replugging the charger does no good). The first time I thought it had died and called Verizon, who was no help, but I accidentally found that by holding the power button for a while made it come back on. It's not charge/battery related with me, as it's happened both times while on the charger, but at varying lengths of time. Once was only a couple hours.
