ok i am new to all of this...i use my tab mainly off of the 3g network...my question is: if i close down my browser is it still streaming my data, or do i have to turn off my 3g whenever i am done with the internet in order to save my data? my husband has an android phone and he was talking about a "task killer"? and if i turn off my data, then does my mobile hotspot get inactive for my other computers that want to run off of it in my house? please help me understand this

Hi dottie

Welcome to the forum :)

Don't be worried, we were all new to this once.

I could help you out but I think I know a member who could put it more succinctly for you.
I will call upon him, just be patient a while.

It's nice to meet you anyway and we hope that you enjoy your time here.

when you have "Use Packet Data" checked your Tab will use your 3G connection to access the internet for all its needs, even when the Tab is "turned" off it will still use 3g in the background, unless the Tab is "powered" off, then it will not use 3G & you cant send or receive phone calls

if you uncheck the "Use Packet Data" before you "turn" off the Tab, you wont use any data but your hotspot will close also, although you will still see the screen "light up" to tell you of an incoming call

personally i have a wifi router at home & connect my Tab to the internet via wifi with this & my 3G data does not get used until i'm out of range of the router
