Actually, I don't mean to hijack the thread but I have a related question that I didn't find an answer to in the existing posts. My partner recently gave me some eBooks for a couple of books that I could not find in ebook format in the online stores. Basically they are in a folder that contains an HTML and an epub folder. I tried copying them to my tab in the documents folder but none of my ereaders have the option to look there... I'm using the kindle app and the Google books app. I even tried downloading kobo, but still not able to figure out how to make it work. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Damien

Did you re-boot after transferring them, otherwise they may not show up.
The GT does a fresh media scan, on re-boot...

Have downloaded the Barnes & Noble app and it works great for reading my books. There are two issues 1) Cannot import the books to the ebook app that comes with the TAB. Looking for user name and password. The other issue is with the National Geographic Magazine subscription. Magazines download and even import to ebooks. However, all the pages somhow go to the gallery. I think I will have to cancel my subscription before it loades up my storage. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Steve

You have to download the B&N app. log in with the same email you use for B&N and it will download your books, but not to the ebook app. They will be under the B&N app

although the pages are showing in Gallery, they are actually being stored somewhere in an NGM folder, to prevent them showing in the Gallery place a .nomedia file in the NGM folder containing the pages

Thanks Bart.
I will try that. Any idea why my NOOK books need a username and password to import to ebooks? Have tried user name and password that I use for B&N and also tried credit card number that I use on the account.

not at all sure, I use Aldiko & the only username & password I needed for that was when I imported some ebooks in,
that I had on my PC in "Adobe Digital Editions" & I had to input my "Adobe Account" username & password
to obtain the DRM certificate, the only other username & password I can suggest is your Gmail account that you
need to access the market

I use Aldiko Reader
I just put my books in the "Download" folder
then in Aldiko I goto the Home Page, select SD card,
then scroll to the "Download" folder, tap the ebook file
& I have an option to "Import to Aldiko"

Hi julugamky,
There are several places to get ebooks from, you can find most in the android Market App.
I have the Kindle App on my Tab, Kobo Books came as a stock on the GTAB7 and I also installed WH Smith app (this may be UK specific) but it's rubbish to use. The other two are better.
Other members may be able to give you some more suggestions.

I have created a few ebooks with a python script. There are a few images and they all have captions, I would like theese to be displayed in italic.
When I load the eBook up in a viewer (calibre) on my computer the ebooks show just fine. However when I transfer the books to my tablet, the captions have the same font as the rest of the text.
I have tried the default viewer as well as Kobo and Aldiko, but none of them seemes to be able to show the caption in italic.
It could be the format I have written the ebook in, but I have tried both CSS editing and <i>...</i> formating and none seemed to do the trick.
I guess my question is:
Is it the reader that need to change, if so to what?
Or is it my coding that need to change, if so how?

Just viewed an ebook I have on my Tab on my PC using “Sigil” book editor to view the composition,
checked in “book view“ for an instance of italic & then viewed the page in “code view“ & that uses <em> This text will be in Italic </em> for the coding,
don’t know if you have tried this or if it will help you

It worked partialy. Worked in Aldiko, but not in the native viewer, well at least it's somthing.
Do you know if the file that stores the code in the book you looked at is a .xml or .xhtml?
Saw another book with .xml chapters wich seemde to be able to show italic.

on the test I did the files were shown as .xml (the book was Sun Tzu - The Art of War.epub)
by the way, I use Aldiko book reader, can't test the book in the stock reader because I uninstalled it
I just looked through my ebooks & don't have any with .xhtml files I can test to see how they are coded

OK, thanks for the help, I think I'll look into the option of using .xml files aswell.
