For some reason none of my media has sound! I still have sound for other things. The alerts still have sound as well as the alarms. All media sound is silent. That includes the startup sound. I have checked the settings and the media sound setting is set to max volume. It is not in silent mode either. Can anyone assist?

same thing happened to my GT P1000, no sound when playing music/video and picking up calls and also the music player keeps popping up unexpectedly.
Before flashing to gingerbread, everything works fine, after flashing to Gingerbread using KIES and accidentally deleted some system files which I I've forgotten which files was being deleted, then problem mention above started.

I've flashed many ROM but the problem still remain.
I wasn't able to flash it back to the original ROM because in that time, I didn't make backup of my original ROM (or should I say I didn't know how to pull/save the ORIGINAL/STOCK ROM) :)

I've search www.samfirmware.com, but there are so many versions and left me in confusion :)
FYI, I live in Indonesia and I believe my Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 Stock ROM is Asian version.
There are so many Asian versions e.g :

P1000XXJQ1,P1000DXJK2,P1000DXJJ2, etc

Also there are so many .PIT files, dunno which version to use too e.g :

P1_20100909.pit, s1_odin_20100512.pit, s1_odin_20100513.pit, etc

any way, what is the .PIT file for?

So, what I wanna do is to flash my GT back to the original STOCK ROM / FIRMWARE.

Any help would be appreciated, please......

TIA.

I also have this problem and from other forums it appears that it could be quite widespread.
I have done all of the obvious stuff from checking the controls and earphone socket up to doing a complete reset of my 10.1 tablet.
It was a pain restoring all of the apps but did not resolve the problem.
My sound does return intermittently and stop. It may stay fine for a week or two and stop for a similar time.
The hardware is probably OK as the sound notifications work and so does the start up Samsung theme music but after it has started none of the media audio works.
It could be co-incidence but I recall that after downloading a couple of movies and using the auto re-format option that the audio may stop sometime afterwards.
I have deleted these and it does not help.
I also noticed that today it tried to work for a short time but the audio was broken up and eventually stopped. Like the driver was partially working or the speaker had given up.
It is a most irritating problem and because I bought it from an importer who has gone bust I have no comeback for warranty service.
You would think Samsung would support their products regardless of where they were purchased!

Any help would be most appreciated.
