Ok here it is, Benjamin Dobell for giving up Heimdall flashing utility and install instructions.

I NOR THE THE HEIMDALL DEVELOPER ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS NOT WORKING!!! OR ANY DAMAGE IT MAY DO TO YOUR TAB!!

You will need to download two files.

1. The firmware you plan to flash.
2. Heimdall - follow this link <--------click on the binaries link for 1.1.1

Instructions how to install and use are below.

-------------------------------------------------------Heimdall install instructions----------------------------------------------------------------

1. Download Heimdall here
2. Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) and install it. Download it here<------only if you are using Microsoft widows
2. Unzip Heimdall and you should have several files in the folder called Heimdall.exe, Heimdall-Frontend.exe, QtCore4.dll, QtGui4.dll, Readme.txt and drivers folder containing zadig.exe
3. Put you tab into Download mode(while the tab is OFF hold Volume Down + Power Button). Hook the tab up to you PC and Run Zadig.exe to install the drivers.
4. From the menu chose Options -> List All Devices.
5. From the USB Device list chose "Samsung USB Composite DEvice".
6. Press "Install Driver", click "Yes" to the prompt and if you receive
a message about being unable to verify the publisher of the driver
click "Install this driver software anyway".

7. Done. This only needs to be done once.

-------------------------------------------------------How to use Heimdall----------------------------------------------------------------

1. Put your tab into download mode - Power off Tab, once powered down hold power and the volume down button at the same time. You will see a android digging.
2. Start Heimdall
3. Hook your tab up to your PC or MAC and you will see a progress bar. That must say Ready to get heimdall to work.
4. Find you Firmware and unzip it until you see the following files below. (NOTE: when you first unzip your firmware it may unzip into a .tar file unzip the .tar file to get the files below.)
a. Zimage
b. FactoryFS.rfs
c. Param.lfs
d. Boot.bin
e. SBL.bin - not always included
f. cacher.rfs
g. dbdata
h. modem.bin - not always included
5. Place each of those files in their correct spot and hit start.

ONE BIG NOTE: if you use a pit file do not select repartition. It might brick your tab as heimdall has a problem when selecting repartition w/ a pit file. It is ok to use the pit file just make sure repartition is unchecked.

If you run into any problems give me a shout.

Ok I can't seem to find a fix to my dilemma but I just acquired vzw galaxy tab 7 and am using windows 7 and when I run zadig it does not recognize my samsung. It lists several possibilities one of which is gadget serial. I chose that as one site instructed but when I rum heimdall front end, it does not open in the way all the tutorials I have read or seen say it should open. I cannot install cubed 3 because the screen does not come up where I can enter the necessary information. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. BTW heimdall opening page has four header tabs: 1.Load package, requesting firmware package, 2. flash, with pit and partition options, 3. Create package which is greyed out and inaccessible, and 4. utilities, with detect device and download pit. Thanks again

Hey Guys,

I had a Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 and a mate thought it would be nice to try to make it more up to date for me whilst I was away, but in the end stuffed it. So this is what I have done (excuse any errors as it is late and I have been working on this all day)

I have a Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 and it started out having the issue of only being visible in windows. It was stuck in the rare Spc5110 mode. I had to install linux on spare hardrive and injected the Modified SBL via the Java Unbrickable mod. It then worked and It then loaded Heimdall 1.21 (to work with this model) and i installed the stock rom (Australian model Tab)

After that, it was visible in windows and as I am GUI based person and know my way around windows more, I went back to my windows machine (windows 8 pro) Odin, Heimdall and even Kies can see it now. The only difference is that Kies says its un supported. In windows, I used ODIN with the correct flash from Samsmobile.com and it loaded it and said it passed. Then the device rebooted and it didnt turn on for about 5 mins. After that I waited and i thought i would let it charge. About 20 minutes later, I turned it on and the samsung chime came on but not display. This is still the issue and I have even reflashed as per this thread. Any ideas?

Maximus
