Email Problems
Posted 23 November 2011 - 02:12 AM (#181)
When I am browsing and I see a web page that I want to share via the Android email app, the default signature is always there by default.
I wind up manually removing it from the bottom of the email message.
The question is How can I remove or change the signature that Samsung put there on emails that are launched by sharing from my web browser.
I have done it when I send an email directly from the email app.
I also have done it for when I post forum messages.
PLEASE help.
Thanks in advance.
Jon

Ok, i think we can stop messing with this. This is the official replay from Samsung support (spain):
El dispositivo está diseñado para que se eliminen los mensajes de entrada, almacenados en el propio terminal. Esto sucederá tanto si elimina los mensajes del servidor como si no. Dicha opción no se puede modificar.Â
Wich translated says:
The device is designed to delete inbox messages, stored in the terminal. This will occur wether you delete the messages from the server, or wether you dont. This option can not be modified
So i think this is not going to be solved, as it is supposed to work like this.
Any good mail client over there?
set yourself up with a GMail account, put a mail forwarder on your server to forward a copy of incoming mail to Gmail then use that account on the tab - instant 'push' email and nothing gets deleted on your server or your phone

I can not get my talk talk email to work on my galaxy p100 - I have been on the talktalk web site and email them but the only thing I got back was they do not have a term to sort this out.
I set up as follows
username@talktalk.net
pop3
mail.talktalk.net
incoming port 110
and then I get imap to set up (I do not get the smtp to do)and no one has any info I need and also listed is exchange account - again I have no info for this.
Am I getting imap because talk talk does not use smtp??
Does anyone know what setting I need.
Thank you and look forward to hearing from you
Otherwise I am loving my tab.
All the best
Linda

Talk Talk email
Your outgoing server shouldn't be the TalkTalk server, It should be your sim provider,
O2 >>>>>>> smtp.o2.co.uk
Orange >>> smtp.orange.co.uk
T-Mobile >> smtp.t-email.co.uk
Vodafone > smtp.vizzavi.co.uk or send.vodafone.net
3 >>>>>>>> smtp.three.co.uk
The settings above will only work when connected via GPRS, 3G etc.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you happen to be connected via WiFi then the settings will not work,
You would then need to have the outgoing server set to your current Internet Provider,
So if for instance you are on T-Mobile, but have TalkTalk Broadband via Wireless in your house, and in your work you have Virginmedia Broadband via Wireless this is what you would need to do.
At home set your outgoing server as smtp.talktalk.net on your phone (using home wi-fi Talk Talk),
On the way to work set it as smtp.t-email.co.uk (using T-Mobile 3G etc.),
then once you arrive at work set it to smtp.virginmedia.com (using works wi-fi virginmedia)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
an easier solution is to send messages from your talktalk address, but using gmail's smtp settings, receive via Gmail
log into gmail and in the settings, selected 'accounts and imports'
In the 'Send mail as' option, register your talktalk address.
you should receive a verification email.
go to to the email settings on your Tab,
keep the pop.talktalk.net setting for incoming mail (including talktalk address and password).
For the smtp settings, enter;
smtp.gmail.com
selected 'security type' SSL
'sever port' 465
click the 'Login Required' and use your gmail account username and password
this is for any wi-fi or 3G

Hi Bart
A big thank you for reply. I have done all the things you guoted before
I can not understand why things are going wrong - I have a BT email which I set up ie with POP3 and SMTP with no problems - so I then tired to set up my talktalk and it will not work - so I took off the BT email, leaving me with no email. I then tired to set up talktalk and still it does not work.
I am using my galaxy tab 7 with no sim - and the email is my home email on a wireless setting (talktalk my boardband) it seems that whatever I do talktalk always goes over to imap for a setting. How I am doing things _-
I put in my email address and passwork - then used manual for the setup as clicking next does not work - my next page states POP3 - IMAP - exchange. I do not get the chance to put in smtp info. With my BT email I only had to add email and password click next and worked.
I am missing a setting or do you think that talktalk does not work in the galaxy tab 7 - my reason for getting this working - is that I am leaving BT to go over to talktalk - home use.
If there is not other help or advice - I will try your gmail way.
Thank you again and if you can advise further, I would very much appreciate.
Linda

tested sending an email with 17mb attachment:-
Hotmail to Gmail ....... downloaded the attachment, opened & played ok
Gmail to YahooMail ....... downloaded the attachment, opened & played ok
Gmail to Hotmail ........Download Failed, unable to download. File size too large
Hotmail to VirginMedia ........Download Failed, unable to download. File size too large
it appears the "Stock Email" is unable to download Large files (no idea what the size limit is)
Gmail & YahooMail both worked ok, I did not try any other 3rd party Mail apps

The memos App on the 7" stores memos as .vnt files. So far in my long time in here, I have still not seen a post which has solved the problem of how to open them once you have emailed them to yourself.
So instead of telling you how to email them, can I suggest you download the App TxtPad it is easily accessible once emailed.
IF you still need help with how to email from txtpad, then please come back to us.

This seem to be a good solution, not as short and precise as I would like to, but could work. Does anybody knows how to redirect mails in Mozilla Thunderbird?
