Hi. Just wondering if anyone out there knows how to make video calls on Skype on the Tab. I can make the calls, do IM with no problems on Skype, but I can't seem to get the video working. Can't seem to find an icon to start video calling. Does anyone know how to do this on the Tab?

Skype doesn't offer any video calling services on mobile devices. There are a very few amounts of apps that will let you video chat with a Mac or PC. Try clearsea. That's about as good as its gonna get for now. Oovoo is coming out with a solution but currently doesn't support the galaxy tab.

I know it's not for Android, but Skype just released an update to their iPhone app that allows video calling over 3G and WiFi.

Maybe an Android version isn't too far off? <_<

I bought 2 tabs and installed fring and then added tab2's fring user name as a friend on tab1 then did it the other way round (if that makes any sense) then my daughter went upstairs and video called me and it worked fine and I don't even have a sim in either of them

How about YM? It has an app to enable video calling downloadable from the marketplace. I haven't figured out how to use it though. If you're able to use it, will appreciate your advice

I installed Tango yesterday and works quite well. I had a long video chat with a friend with an iphone 3g s in Amsterdam over wifi and the connection was pretty good. I could only see the video from his main camera since there's no front-facing camera on the 3g s, but the front camera on my gtab was used automatically and the image was pretty good.

OoVoo is a opfion. Easy to in stall and use. Videp qualify is smoofh and clear. However there is an issue. When viewed by the receiveing end the video sent by thr Galaxy Tab is sideways and now matter how you physically orientate the tab the video still flips to the side. It seems to pnly be an issue with the Gslaxy Tab. It has been addresses to the ooVoo developers by myself and others and developers claim tp be worling on it. Check it out though @ www.ooVoo.com

yeah, as all the others already told there is no way to make a video call with the TAB. guess it will be able soon as they are trying to improve it. there are only 3 or 4 models that support video calls.

I am a bit hesitant to upgrade to Overcome ROM. I read the forums and it doesn't look like it's as smooth as the upgrade to 2.3 using Odin. People having problems with this and that. I can live without the video chat. I'll just wait for Honeycomb 3.1 which should be much better.

But nobody has to wait. I've been video chatting since day 1 on Qik, which Skype recently bought. Check it out. You can send video messages through the online site in addition to chatting with other Qik users.I suspect that, at some point, Qik and Skype might fuse, but who knows with Microsoft, which bought Skype.

Video does work on the Tab, although only one camera will work if you have Froyo, and sometimes both cameras have worked when Gingerbread is installed.

I haven't tried Skype video calling myself yet, but I understand that when you have established a voice call in Skype, a video button should then become available.

Make sure you have a recent version, and make sure you go to settings and tick enable Video calls.
