I still have the factory Firmware and I'm really getting stuck on trying to figure out how to update it since I did not subscribe to sprint when I bought it. From what I understand Kies does not connect to the sprint version. I have installed it and it did not work. Also everything I read says to check your Firmware by typing *#1234# but where the heck do you actually type that?

Any help is greatly appreciated my tab is not getting enough use and needs to be flashed!

I have the same situation. Mine is a SPH-p100 with 2.21(EB28). I would like to install the gingerbread 2.3(EF17). Those of us who did not enroll in a sprint plan cannot update because they are done through 3g and not Wifi.
Is it possible to update myself if I can find EF17 out there somewhere?

Thanks...and be blessed

probably on XDA.. this is the problem with buying a carrier's device without going on their network.. they do a month to month plan.. that would be easier, and safer.. even if it does cost something..

You're right about that. I found a thread on xda that has link to the update file, and instructions to update. Now I just have to see if I can find the root file on my SD card, ( tab is not rooted). Will it show up with my sd card reader?

You don't need to have a data plan with Sprint for the update to be pushed to you. I am using the Tab in WiFi mode only and got the update pushed to me - better wait for the official update OTA than to try to force the install and risk a brick IMO.

Thanks so much for the post. I got the update from Samsung before I could update myself...love gingerbread. I finally can stream netflix, and I can see a lot that runs better.

Okay...I have two things to put out there.

First; can anyone fix Ocean Waves live wallpaper? Doesn't work after update. Why do others still work, but not that? I found a lot of comments by others wanting it back too.

Second; is anyone familar with the Archos 43 internet tablet music player? I had it in a backup file before my old one died. Tried to install on my p1000, but won't install. It beats any other music player I've seen. Nemo is probably the best of what I've found (thanks for the link xda), but that Archos one is way better. Album covers scroll like a rolodex...best format for lots of album files. Does anyone know if it can be fixed to work on a gt?

Thanks...and be blessed

some apps are not compatible with gingerbread.. its a simple(ish) fix, but you'll have to wait for the dev to fix it for the wallpaper. the archos one I'm not familiar with, but I'd assume its the same issue.. ask on XDA, and maybe one of the guys there will have a look at it..
