I was wondering if there's an app that can allow you to use your COMPUTER'S internet connection on your samsung galaxy tab. In other words, I am looking for an app that does the REVERSE of a Wifi tether app. For example, I have a MP3 Player that has WiFi. But I don't have WiFi, so whenever I have to download apps/music onto that MP3 player, I have to plug it into my computer using a USB cord and use its internet. I assume that because there is a USB cord provided, I can use that to access my computer's internet on the Tab. Is there an app that can do the same thing in this case?

Alternatively, you can install Connectify (http://www.connectify.me/) on your laptop. It will turn your laptop into a wifi router. You can then use the Tab's wifi connection to get connected to internet. World like a charm for me.

So would this program, combined with a WIFI USB adaptor on my desk top allow me to use the desktop internet through my TAB?
I'm trying to avoid hooking up a router to my work computer.

Connectify has a page with supported devices on its support pages: http://support.conne...-card-supported . The list also includes Wifi USB adapters. If you make sure you buy a Wifi USB adapter from this list or with a chipset mentioned on the list, you should be fine.

Is it possible to reverse tether Galaxy tab without rooting it? I'm currently in Afghanistan on a small outpost, and we use it for terrain mapping during dismounts (we had Gaia GPS on it), but somehow the cache got cleared and we lost what we downloaded prior to getting here. My internet here is limited and only one computer allows usb connectivity and pretty much zero downloading. And I can't get maps on it unless i run the app from the tablet...

as I understand it, you can export a specific Gaia Map location as a .gpx file (approx 30kb), if you have it on a phone,
can you get someone to email a .gpx copy of the wanted Gaia Map location to you on the PC with the USB connectivity,
you can connect your Tab via USB to the PC & transfer the email with .gpx attachment to your Tab & import the .gpx attachment to your Gaia app
