hi guys! I experienced a problem with my galaxy tab. It suddenly turned off when I am calling someone. When I turn it back on, It turns off again without me doing anything to it. The problems just stopped when it turned off for the fifth time and I decided to turn it back on after few hours. Does someone here already experienced the same problem? Please help me. :(

I've had my Galaxy Tab a couple of months now, sometimes when i use the camera or try to call someone it turns off and i have to do a restart, sometimes the problem stays after the restart and sometimes everything works as it should.

anyone else had/have the same problem or know the solution to the problem?

Thanks in advance !

I have exactly the same problem.
sometimes mid call just switches off... other times the moment the line connects I hear hello... off

mine starting misbehaving about 3 months ago... the battery has always been an issue and whenever it would drop below 30% invariably i would get telephony related issues.
more recently it seems to be unrelated to battery power now and it is really infuriating because sometimes i can use it all day no problem and then other days battery at 90% network just disappears and comes back my itself.
I get the little ᴓ nothing doing symbol where the network should be. Also i have noticed if i have wifi on and bluetooth on when this little ᴓ sign is there those too are disabled...

i have almost resigned myself to the fact that my tab is buggered probably from dropping it a few too many times...

if there is a solution i too would be very interested...

have had same same issues and have tried severally to sort it. are you on the stock rom or the gingerbread one?
I upgraded mine to the P1000XXJPZ gingerbread rom back in may and the device has been wonder ful until a few months back.
same issues almost as if the battery cannot sustain sudden peaks in current as required when initiating a call or the flash of the camera...

Hi there,
my tab turns itself off, though it has sufficient battery (less than 8 0%).
It turns off when:

Taking a picture
On gps
Just browsing internet (wifi and mobile network).

I am running 2.3.6 firmware version and kernel version 2.6.35.7, Overcome custom rom, tab is rooted.

Any comments are appreciated. Thank you.

did the random "turn offs" start straight after the upgrade, I flashed to 2.3.6 on 6th Jan. & have had no problems
have you tweaked the speed or screen resolution, the only other thing it could be, is a downloaded app

I've seen no one else reporting random "turn offs" in the xda forum

Tab was turning off after i flashed overcome kratos edition, i though that update will help. I don't have any suspicious apps. It doesn't turn off if it's on charge, or connected to a laptop.

Btw could this be because i've dropped it? There is a small crack on the corner.

I really like sgt, but this battery issue makes it useless.

sounds like the drop may have been the problem, could be an internal connection is slightly dislodged & occasionaly does not make contact ....

it's worth checking out your Local Samsung Service Centre to seek an opinion

My galaxy tab will be working fine sometimes for hours and randomly turn off, i will still have a good amount of battery left and i cant turn it back on no matter how long i hold do the button the only way i can turn it back on is if i plug it into the wall charger and when it turns back on the date has been reset to march 24 2004 at 7 o'clock? if it turns back on and i take it off the charger it does the same thing soon after.

Hello.
Same problem with my tab.
Delivered it back to the retailer, who serviced it with a full upgrade.
They even switched the main card.
After about 2 months the damn thing started again.
This time it was at the service shop for about 30 days, without them finding any errors.
Fortunetly, the switch off ocured while i was in the shop
The salesperson could see for him self the switch off.
Adventurly i got a brand new tab from Samsung.
They called it " goodwill ":-)

The new one has been good for about 40 days now.
I am just waiting for it to screw up again.
Good luck to you.
Ps.
I dont think either reboot or hard reboot will help you.
Send it to service and ask for a new tab.

Hi there,

I have a Galaxy Tab: GT-P1000 firmware version: 2.3.3, baseband version: P1000XXJPZ, Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 root@DELL101 #2 build: Gingerbread.XWJP

It keeps switching off for no apparent reason. The battery is charged and if re-started at times does not switch back on at all until connected to charger. I've made a factory reset yesterday but problem continues. What can I do?

If you have done a Factory Reset to revert your Tab to "as new" format, and you have not reinstalled your Apps, but the Tab continues to switch off, the Tab must have a hardware fault, and needs to be returned to Samsung or their Agent for repair...
