I have the same problem as yours, trying to check an answers but seems no one bothers in this forum !!!!!

You can take self-portraits using the front camera by doing the following:

Open your Camera and click on the icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen (if you've never touched it before, it appears to be a solid rectangle with a border).

This opens the shooting mode menu. At the bottom of the menu, you can find the Self-Shot setting. Click that and then you will be able to take self portraits using the front camera.

If you are trying to video chat on Skype, that is the problem. This unit and skype do not work you only have voice. Look for another app.

Thanks a MILLION for the tip. I was trying to figure out how to video using the front camera. On my very new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 access to the front camera setting is a little different but still easy to figure out. Thanks. the only problem now is in front camera mode the camera window is small and only takes up perhaps a quarter of the available screen. On replay though the image fills the whole screen. Is there any way to enlarge the video window when recording in Front Camera Mode ?

I'm a total newbie into Android but I can actually video chat with skype using the front camera...! I don't know if I've accidentally installed something but it just works! What I can't do is to use a site like chatroulette because it says "your webcam shows no activity"...
