ok so ive patched the bootloaders as recommended in the tutorial but im having a problem so if anyone can help.

Connected the tab to fire kies up and now it wont pick up the device is there. laptop keeps trying to find drivers and im getting a message asking for a disc for "7 cdcs".

I tried updating the drivers and made sure the tab was at the right settings i.e pda and not modem. Still wont work.

Currently ive just uninstalled the drivers completely and doing a fresh install from the usb drivers file contained in the overcome files.

If this doesnt work what the hell do i do next?
----------------------------------------------------

Is it still safe to flash the rom or am i better just to factory reset the tab and stick with it as is?

ok so ive done some more digging and what ive found is the tabs modem settings etc need to be changed.

So heres a quick guide if anyone else gets stuck with this.

Go to your tabs dialer (i just went into contacts and tapped dialer) then type in the following *#7284# then hit call

You will be presented with 2 sections "UART" and "USB" with Modem and Pda options.

Change any if required to "pda" then simply hit the return soft key on the bottom of the tab.

Im still in the midst of installing the drivers and mtp etc but the lapie fired kies up when i connected the tab again so fingers crossed.
--------------------------------------------------------

alls good and even snappier!

Can anyone help with overclocking?

How about a tutorial or a how to for when final version is released. I.e how do you update or patch.

I updated my T-Mobile Tab with the Overcome Rom and all I can say is wow.
It was easier than I thought. Just follow the instructions exactly and all should be good.

Been running overcome rom for most of the day, typing this on it now. All good upto now. The insructions on the OC website are very good. Always impressed with what some dedicated people can produce for no cost.

I like the new notification bar icons.

only issues im having are: after changing the boot animation i sometimes get stuck in a boot loop whilst rebooting.
Gameloft games: most of them dont work but could be the gb upgrade in general.

Very first post here.

Installed the ROM yesterday and am happy to report that everything is working. Its like a different device now. It seemed slightly sluggish with Froyo and the stock Gingerbread firmware improved on that somewhat, but the Overcome ROM has taken it to another level yet again.

Impressive work lads not only with the development of the ROM but with the install instructions and the tips guide. Very, very impressed with you all.

As for the Gameloft stuff like Asphalt and Gangstar, they stopped working properly when Gingerbread was installed.

Please excuse my maybe stupid question, but is this a clean gingerbread rom, or does it still have touchwiz? Kinda sick of covering the touchwiz ui with other launchers, so i am looking for a clean rom to install.

Hi Everyone,

How long should you expect for the first boot to load after installing the overcome rom?

Been waiting for about an hour and it just hangs forever. If I turn it off the system will brick.

Are you on the boot animation screen or what have you got in front of you?

Hi Scottyf79,

It was just the samsung splash hanging (overcome splash wasn't comming up at all).

I was able to get the overcome ROM onto my Galaxy Tab by installing the full release and then the update straight away (before rebooting in the CWM recovery console). At first I just tried the update alone which corrupted the gingerbread stock ROM.

Wasn't sure if it all installed properly but everything works fine except the tweaking app which says I don't have the right CF Root Keneral to gain superuser access. Not sure if I could just overlay this through CWM. I might give it a try since I have set a backup in CWM.

Overall it seems to give increased performance allround and increases a bit of functionally. Better than stock but not a world of difference as far as I can see.

cwm tweaks isnt working for me either.

I take it you have set cpu so you can overclock and undervolt etc?

Next update should bring us a fair bit extra, its nearly ready 8)

Nope, the tweak app spits out the error for having a "dirty" kernal and doesn't open, probably the way I had to install it.

I would like to think I could just overlay the kernal again through the CWM tool but I'm fairly certain through my experience doing that with odin it will corrupt the kernal I have and I'll brick it.

Still I like to break things before fixing it so I'll give it a try a little later.

Well yeah,

I tried reflashing the kerenal to get the tweak tool running but it bricked.

As it turns out, since the ROM is already rooted I was able to download other overclocking tools to make changes to CPU management.

New release? I'll check it out.

Update applied!

Ok so, I loaded it up (nowipe install) and straight away did benchmarking (App: "AnTutu System Benchmarking").

On GB/OC v2 I got a scroe of 2086 (post tweaking), OC v2.0.1 I got a score of 1880 (pre-tweaking).

Did some tweaking & optimising on Hermes and it's now up to 2480 (achieved by applying the "smartass" clocking profile in "CPU master free" app).

All in all, a 19% increase and now ranks equally against a HTC Glacier.

Alls well and running, seem to have lost cwm completely though. Will need to recondition battery, still dropping a bit to fast.
