I've got a new Galaxy Tab, it's only about a month old. When I leave it on charge over night it turns off, I have to reboot it in order to use it. It's annoying and I shouldn't have to do this.

Small charges are fine though...

It's not advisable to leave your tab ON during overnight charging, Or to charge overnight as the battery heats up. This is probably why your tab shut down.

Buy a simple wall timer, set it for 4-5 hours.

Hi,

I would like to share my own experience about the same problem of samsung galaxy tab that does not want to start.

1. I bought my galaxy tab 10.1 in dec.
2. In Feb my charger refused to charge anymore. This is @ 2.1amp charger. Try many thing to repair it. The charger is just bul...it. So I used my HTC phone charger which is USB but charges with @ 1amp - meaning much slower than. I learnt that this amp can be considered as a bandwidth speed in charging.
so far I understand.

3. Then I got the dead batteries. and there was no way it turned up. I used a friends IPAD charger which is as well a 2.1 amp usb - fortunately after a while it started to charge -Seemed that it was too dead :) to accept droplet of power to wake up. Again I was happy and continued to use my HTC charger to charge it overnight.

4. Then Back again after 1 month it just went dead again. but this time, not even the IPAD charger could not do anything. This time I started to get very frustrated.
I even looked out for how to open the galaxy tab to see if there was a problem of battery and got to this site http://www.techrepub...l-view-selector

Then I looked out for new batteries in Malaysia,www.lelong.my shop called 'enjoys' and even arranged to see how to despatch it to mauritius... pff.

Then I brought my battery to a local electronic shop to confirm that the battery was really defect, but he could not give me any guarantee.
I was completely lost. until I came to your site where saw load of people complaining and one person proposing the solution with the power and + volume.
Which actually worked...

5. In assembling another problem raised because the cables were not correcly attached.
I looked out for a'P7500 Service Manual.pdf' and on page 7-5 saw that the connection should be fixed by Insert the 30 PIN I/F, TSP, LCD Connector
and Close the black thin bar
which I did not do... and you know what, It finally worked.

6. What I'll do now is that I'll purchase a series of charger of 2.1amp to make sure that it gets enough power to charge.
3Pin Travel Charger Samsung Galaxy TAB 10.1 2.1A - fixed cord
3Pin Travel Charger Samsung Galaxy TAB 10.1 2.1A - usb detachable cord
Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 usb connection kit
Car Charger for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

I bought this from singapour to get a better deal than in Mauritius, where the aftersale service for tablet is crap.
If I had an IPAD, may be I would not be getting this kind of problem but if I got this kind of problem, I would not find as many solutions as this with my galaxy tab.

I like my galaxy tab and I like android... and even if I got this problem. I would never change for an IPAD ;) for thousands of reasons

cheers

Vincent R.

Tablet will not charge anymore. Took it to Best Buy to have the charging cord checked out and they said it was fine. The problem appears to be the charging port on the tablet itself. One day it was working just fine and then it wasn't. Has anyone else had issues with the charging port malfunctioning? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

When the cable is connected to computer is it 'recognized'? Does the tab slowly recharge from the computer? Is the ac charger defective? Have you done a hard reset with power switch and vol button? It is possible your port is defective but that would be one of my last conclusions. Suspect android operating system is hung up and needs resetting.

No, it doesn't recognize the cable at all. When it was working properly, I would get the battery icon showing that the unit was charging. At this point there is no charge left in the tablet. It has never been able to charge from my laptop. Best Buy checked the ac charger cord and found it to be working fine. They suggested that the charging port on the tablet is the defective part, therefore causing the tablet not to charge. I have not done a hard reset. How do I properly do the hard reset? Thank you for your help.

first try this - turn off the tablet *make sure it is completely turned off by gonig to a dark room and ensuring the screen is not glowing - then while putting a finger on the screen, press the power button for 20 seconds while keeping a finger on the screen - let it boot up

if that does not work, pressing volume down and power at the same time
- if you click on the left side, it should take you to recovery mode - use the volume keys to navigate down to factory reset then click the power button

Thank you very much for your help. Nothing seems to work. I will most likely have to ship it off to be repaired.

I've had my tab for a little over a year now. When I charge, I push the "on" button just to see if it's still charging - but if I push the button on a little too long, it actually turns off and won't turn back on again. First time it happened, I left it for about a week, then charged it overnight, and it turned back on and has been working as usual. Yesterday I was charging and held down the "on" button too long again - and again it won't turn on. How can I use it while charging if it keeps doing this!?!?!?

Actually I'm trying to get it to start working properly again so that I can delete all personal details from this, and exchange it (plus my Galaxy S phone) for Galaxy SIII - hoping this phone wouldn't have all the problems the tab has! Has anyone had this problem?

To be honest ...... that sounds like it is working as it should...

If you want to use it whilst it is charging, make sure it is on before connecting the charger......

Sorry to disagree Wizz but you should be able to turn it on and off as and when you want to while it's charging (I do). So I think it's developed a fault. Get it on, back up your data and do a reset.

I have same problem with my Galaxy Tab 10.1 when using anything but the charger Samsung supplied with the tablet; that one charges while running just fine; it's rated 2 amps @ 5 volts DC. Android 4.0.4.

Good Morning Guys,

I have got this Galaxy Tab 10.1 P7500 that doesn't want to charge at all!
I know that the new Tabs aren't charging while they are on, but I've let my tab charging the WHOLE night twice!

The first night it charged only 50%.
The second one it charged only 36%.

It might be a problem with the charger itself.
I was reading online and idk if its possible to a Galaxy Tab get battery addicted since they won't charge while charging, correct me if I am wrong.

Please guys, I need some help over here!

Thank you all :D

Hello Guys,

I have the same exactly problem! May anyone tell me if this solution of charging it till 100% and getting it down to 25% then recharging it again will work?
I've got this tablet 2 days ago and I am pretty disappointed at it.

Another thing, why won't my avatar appear over here?

Thank you all!
