Go to settings and select wireless and network, then Wi-fi settings. tap the menu button and select scan. You should then be able to see the hotel network. Tap the connection and connect. You may be asked for a network key then but more likely it will connect automatically. When you open your browser it will probably go straight to the hotel network page where you will put in your SN and password. Hope this works.

Spot on SEW :)

The only trouble I have had with hotel networks was with an Ipad as it's browser did not like the hotel sign in web page

Hi. Just found your useful post- as I have just bought a tab and plan to travel soon - Just one question what is SN and in this particular case what is the password for the "hotel network page".I only plan to browse and check my Gmail not my outlook account.

These should be given to you by the hotel - they will be unique to each wi-fi - they might call it username & password or access code.
good luck & and happy travelling.

Hi all,

I have been away from home for a couple of weeks, I have logged onto other networks with my Galaxy Tab, secured and unsecured without any problem.

Now that I am back home I can't log onto my own network. All I keep getting is Obtaining IP address from bbox2-fc88 which is my security enabled network, then I get "remembered secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK" and then I get "disabled secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK". (my PC and my wifes ipad connects without problem)

I have reset the router and re-entered the password. This is not the first time this has happened and the only way I could get connected to my network was to do a factory reset. I don't really want to do this as it clears everything and I have to start from scratch again.

Has anyone had the same problem on there Galaxy Tab

Dovie

Two choices, set a fixed ip in the router dhcp settings so it assigns the tab the same ip each time, or root it and delete a dhcp file each time it happens.

hello!

bought a galaxy tab a 3 weeks ago. Had no issues up to now. But now, I just arrived in Brazil and checked into a hotel, yesterday, with perfect wifi coverage.
My pc (thanks to this I can write and post this note) and Apple IPOD (!!) connects to internett without any issues at all.

but my new galaxy tab cannot! than I searched and founc this forum and I have exactly the same issue as described.
Unbelivable that such a flaw can be tolerated from samsung.

I had successfully used the tab on my private wifi (link sys) in my home , but now I think that it is stucked with the ip address from there.

As I am in a hotel I am not sure if I can use the approach of fixed IP address

Well, thanks to my DELL Pc and Apple Ipod I can acess internett here

Does anybody knows if Samsung is aware or have commented with some news regarding this problem

Do I have to bring back my tab to the shop and get my money back? Will probably not be covered by the one year guarantee?

Also tried factory re-set (twice) , to no avail. On second thought, I should perhaps not go back to the shop and ask for my money back, but check if they can swap it with an IPAD

I had the same issues "reconnecting" to WIFI systems.

Try using the AllShare app to connect. This "work around" has worked perfectly for my WIFI connection issues.

Although, I do wish someone from Samsung would explain why this is happening.

I have a similar problem I have been traveling around UK and Ireland and have had no problem connecting to wifi spots in hotels bars homes etc. I switched off when I went on an aircraft and now i'm back home I can't connect to my own wifi network/router. It shows that its always searching for IP address, I have tried everything. This happened once befor when I switched off, the only way I could get connected again was to do a factory data reset.

I have taken this up with Samsung for the second time and they suggested a reboot from Setting/Privacy/Factory data rest and tick back up your settings first. I did this before in January and have had no problems untill I switched off. They have advised me that if it does it again to return it to their service department as it could be a technical problem in the Galaxy Tab as all the other wifi equipment in my home works OK

Has anyone heard if there is a way of updating the Galaxy Tab perhaps there are fixes for this problem.

Regards

Dovie

Hi, I had same problem, but found solution. It's just bug of galaxy tab. Your device have to rooted and locate /data/misc/dhcp/dhcp_list. And delete the file named "dhcp_list". That's it. Return your wifi and the device will be connected.

Sorry for my english.

I have that problem from time to time. I'm using a Netgear WNR-2000 wireless router. I found that if I performed a power off reset [pull the power connection] of the wireless router when the router came back up I had no problems accessing the network.

I have this problem too but found that switching the Tab's Wireless off and then back on starts scanning for networks properly. It might not be as simple as that for you, but worth a go. Good luck.

I live in Switzerland and have had this problem aswell. I to, have tried to get in thouch with Samsung. They cant give ma an answer. I have tried a static IP address and rebooting. Somethings seem to work, but the problem keeps comming back. What bugs me more, is Samsung does not have an answer for a defect on a primary funtion. The only answer is reentering a new static IP Address with every conection. (that sucks) Q. does anybody know if Samsung has an answer? Can this be fixed?

This is a known issue and is asked about regularly, no fix has been released by samsung as yet. Often solved temporarily by rebooting the tab or access point, which is not possible if it is not your personal access point! To solve this currently you have two choices, if the access point is yours you can set a fixed ip in the router/access point dhcp settings so it assigns the tab the same ip each time, or root the tab and delete a dhcp file each time it happens.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000. Does anyone know why I am not able to detect my home WIFI? I can detect my neighbours WIFI, but not my own. All my other appliances (iPad, iPhone, desktop, notebook, Samsung Wave phone) can detect, just this Galaxy Tab couldn't.

My WIFI is not SSID hidden. When my friends come over, their devices can detect my WIFI. Also, when I bring my Galaxy Tab to elsewhere, I can easily detect other WIFI networks and surf with no issue. Its just at home that I can't get it to work. I am really stumped, because I know my WIFI setting is ok, and the Galaxy Tab is functioning ok. Any idea why?

Please help, thanks!
