This past week I decided to upgrade my Galaxy Tab 2 to a Galaxy Tab 4 running KitKat 4.4.2. I love the idea that it has an 11-pin port for charging - so tired of that 30-pin plug :) And, it's faster, and sweeter all around.

Unfortunately, I can't display my tablet's screen on my television. I have no trouble with this configuration on my Samsung phones.

My connection looks like this:
HDMI cable connected to TV. TV set to HDMI port.
HDMI cable connected to HDMI to MHL adapter (purchased here: New MHL Micro USB to HDMI HDTV Adapter 1080p for Samsung Galaxy S3 S4 S5 Note 2 | eBay)
Power adapter connected to HDMI/MHL adapter.
Lastly, HDMI/MHL adapter connected to tablet.

I get nothing on the screen. When I connect this same configuration to my S4 or S5 (I've tried with both), I get a popup on the phone(s) saying "HDMI connected" but when I connect the tablet I don't get this message.

Any ideas what's wrong? How can I make this work? TIA

the HDMI adaptor you purchased shows compatibility with :
Galaxy S3, S4, S5 & note 2 only ( not for Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530NU)

the Samsung MHL 2.0 HDTV Smart Adapter :- http://www.samsung.c.../ET-H10FAUWESTA
does not list the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530NU in its compatibility list :- http://www.samsung.c...ESTA-compatible

GSMARENA shows the Galaxy S4 as having MHL 2 :- http://www.gsmarena....axy_s4-5125.php
& the Galaxy S4 as having MHL 2.1 :- http://www.gsmarena....axy_s5-6033.php

it does not show the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530NU as having any MHL connectivity :- http://www.gsmarena....4_10_1-6247.php

Screen Mirroring may be possible, check if your Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 SM-T530NU has the Screen Mirror Feature :- http://www.samsung.c.../SM-T530NZWAXAR

& if your TV also has it :
2013 TV'S :- http://www.samsung.c...&map_seq=167479

2014 TV'S :- http://www.samsung.c.../253953/N/1/M//

see also the compatibility Links & the Screen Mirroring link in the above two pages

It appears from the spec list that the galaxy tab 4 10.1 has an hdmi port. How does that work?

apparently only if your Tab & TV has the 'Screen Mirroring' feature mentioned in post #2

I just purchased a galaxy tab4 10.1 tablet from best buy. Their was a Samsung rep there that showed me an Samsung adapter that would allow me to hook up my tablet to a tv through the HDMI port. The connector (Micro USB to HDMI® MHL Adapter) had a 5 pin connector that plugged into my tablet, the connector then had a HDMI connection as well as a USB power connection. When I went to order one online (http://www.monoprice....specifications) I was told that my tablet was not compatible with this adapter (mhl compatible?) I then called Samsung & talked to tech support, the rep said she could find no adapter for my model but that she wasn't sure if my model tablet would work with the adapter. Does anyone know if I can hook up my tablet to my tv? Thank you

Hi

I bought a Samsung Galaxy 4 Tab 10.1 tablet.
I want to connect this to my HDTV.
I bought an original Samsung MHL HDMI adapter.
But when I try it, its not showing the screen.
My TV is also Samsung ( but not a Smart TV).
I am able to see the screen of my Galaxy S4 phone with same cable.

Can you please tell me why its not working.
If the MHL cable doesnt work, what other options I have to connect my Galaxy Tab 4 to my HDTV ( not a smart TV).
Any advice is appreciated

Thanks and Regards
Manu

I hava a Chromecast (2 actually) and use the chromecast mirroring ability (cast screen) to wirelessly display everything to my chromecsts.
Works just like the hdmi adapter except its completely wireless.
Has a split second lag just like the hdmi adapter.

There is no hdmi adapter that will work for the Tab 4 10.1 right now.

There is no HDMI Adapter avalible for your tab 4.
Get a chromecast and use the cast screen option to mirror everything to your tv.
Works just like using an HDMI Adapter and HDMI cable, but it's completely wireless.

HDMIAdapter....$60.....bought 2 chromecasts for $50.00 on sale.

I am based in the UK but recently got a samsung galaxy tab 4 10.1 SM-T530 in Australia, I previously had a tab 3 8" which I could connect up to my tv with my hdmi cable, I thought this would work with both but it doesn't with the tab 10.1, can you anyone tell me which cable to buy and where from.
