Hello,
How do I activate sleep mode on P1000 ? When I pressed the power button I have only options : Silent mode - Data Network mode - Flight mode - Power Off. There is no sleep mode option. If I live my tablet unattended hoping it will hit sleep mode - a demo video shows up over and over. Please help! Is there something wrong with my power button. How do I remove that video option ? Thanks!

Hi lemian

The SGT does not have a "sleep mode" as such. Not like the ipad. It really just turns off the screen. I would suggest looking through your apps in Settings > Manage Applications for something that may look like a video screen saver or a vido app. Some stors use such a program to keep the screen on when pluged in as a diaplay model.

** on a side note, SetCPU is a great way to save battery sine the SGT does not have a sleep mode. I set a profile to dumb down the cpu to 200mhz when the screen is off. Dont need 1ghz to tell me I have a new email or FB update.

Let us know how you go.

Just a quick press of the power button will drop you into a, screen off, lower power mode immediately.....hold it any longer, and you get the menu you have described above.

Everytime the screen try to go in sleep mode, the video runs over and over....

My task manager tells me that the application that runs the video as screensaver is Video View Demo . It looks like its a preinstalled app that I can't remove. I dont see it in my regular apps but when I browse with "Uninstaller for root" software I could the the app but can't unistall. The video itself I see when I hookup to my computer. I tried ti delete it... when the app starts it shows an error message looking for video. I just bought this tablet from a guy. Do you think it could be a demo stolen from a store ? Everything works perfectly except for that video in standby mode. Its annoying. I have to turn off the tablet everytime im not using it for an hour. Somebody have a solution beside root the tablet.

I spoke to Samsung and their instructions are as below:

1) back up your data.
2) open up the dialer (phone) and type *2767*3855#.

As soon as you hit # the tab will hard reset back to factory rom as brand new and hope to clear your video issue.

If this does not work, take it to a samsung service centre.

Let us know how you go.

Hello,
i really apreciate all your help. It is very nice you. The problem with your solution is that there is no dialer on that Bell Canada tablet. The model is GT P-1000M . The is a slot for a sim card but no possibility of dialing. I guess I will have to see a service center unless somebody have miraculous solution. Where can I download the samsung firmware for that tablet?

Damn, I also asked about installing a fresh genuine rom and they said there is apparently no such thing and the samsung web site only provides updates. Might want to go custom rom if no luck from the service centre. I'll still see if there it's another way to hard reset though.

Try turning the tab off. Then hold power and volume up button and release the power button only when you see the logo.

Use the volume up and down button to selecy "wipe data / factory reset".

Press home to chose selection.

Press volume up to continue and the tab should then go into hard reset process.

:yahoo:
I finally found an app that works to get rid of the demo video (alternative). It's call "Tap Tap App". I tried a few other apps the other day to lock the screen but nothing works... there was nothing to stop that demo video in screensaver mode. Tap Tap App does the trick. It actually lock my screen and it goes black. To unlock, I just press power button... slide the Android unlock boutton and my tablet is ready to go. I use this as a standby mode instead of having to reboot everytime I use the tablet. A friendly Thanks to CJD for your time and help. Talk to you soon.
