Hi,
New to Tab 2 10.1 and forum.
My tab recently underwent a software or firmware update (4.2.2) and all the shortcuts I had created (weather, Clubs, etc) are now gone.
Further, I cannot find ANY WAY to create a new shortcut to my most frequently used sites.

Does anyone know how to create a shortcut with this new programming or how I can revert back to the previous version soft/firmware?

Seems like even the keyboard has changed too and certain keys are no longer there. Just don't care for it.

The normal way to create a short cut is to "hold down" on a free area of the home page and select from a drop down menu of various options, including short cuts, and folders etc.

Are you saying that no longer works ?

One way of doing it.

Browser shortcuts.... This is for Dolphin HD

Once you have loaded the page in the browser - Long press on the http - add book mark - add to bookmarks bar.
Menu button - Open bookmarks - long press on the web page saved - option "add shortcut to home"

App/folder shortcuts remains the same as Wizz says. Long press on a blank part of your home screen - options "add to home screen" will come up. Apps Widgets folders etc.

What I am trying to do without success is create a shortcut or bookmark to websites I regularly visit and put an ICON on my Home screen.

Wizz: Your method allows me move around apps, etc, to my home screen, but that is it. There is no option for creating a new shortcut or bookmark.

Moderator Blast: Your post seems to be directed to someone else as it does not seem to apply to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Wi-Fi machine.

Your message:

#1: When I open a page in a browser like Google, say Ebay or the Weather.com NO HTTP address is available on screen and amount of tapping, double taps, swipes, etc bring one up. Cannot do.

#2: THERE IS NOT a "" MENU"" button my Tab 2 with 4.2.2 software!

It follows then, that I cannot DO anything your post indicates.

then see User Manual Page 83 : Accessing Bookmarks and History : – Add shortcut to home: Create a bookmark on the Home

I have loaded a file (Canon camera manual, a PDF file) from laptop to Tab 2 via usb stick. I dragged file into storage/emulated/0. I ask how do I create a shortcut desktop icon to appear on touch screen, please.

About Nov 2013, unit automatically updated with massive file that has totally changed opening page, home keys etc., therefore I am unable to open notification tab by tapping bottom RH corner, any suggestions, thank you in advance.

Notifications is opened by dragging a finger from the top of the screen down.

Easiest way of putting a short-cut on the home-screen is using ES FileExplorer(download from Playstore)

Hope this helps

Sincere thanks to you, "Spikes" for advising about downloading ES File Explorer to allow me to place a shortcut icon on my Tab 2 desktop. It took me (61 years old) about twenty minutes to work out how to operate ES File Explorer and, so far, I find it a friendly programme.

The Notification screen opens by swiping from top RH down, opposite to the way it used to be, ie. bottom RH upwards.

Again, thank you "Spikes" and moderators.

Joe Blow
