I was away for the weekend and as there was no Wi-Fi in the locality this had been switched off. I left the GT on standby before I went to bed. There was about % battery life left when I shut down. In the morning it would not switch on. I held the power button in for about 10secs and nothing.
I plugged the power charger in and tried to it several time and still nothing. For security I had left the GT under my pillow as we had stayed in a camp-site and wondered if I had damaged it.
I was ready to sling it of the window when my wife spotted the battery charging on the screen it was completely empty. I pressed the start button and it came back to life much to my relief as we were using the navigator for our journey home.
Has anyone any ideas on what could drain the battery in less than 8 hours and why it took around 10 mins to charge the battery enough to start it again. Unlike a car battery most modern computers will start as soon as they are plugged into the mains and will run on mains power even if the battery is removed.

The gps and navigator program are powerhungry buggers.

It may of been continuously looking/searching for a wifi network which consumes even more power if you donot have a GSM/SIM in, best to switch it off.

I have seen a slight delay before starting up after a super drain, would not worry about it, just don't do it often

I'm grateful for this thread. I just bought my GT on Sunday, and last night used it until there was just a yellow band on the battery indicator. This morning I plugged it in, but after a few hours, it still wouldn't turn on. I connected it via USB cable to my computer and it eventually came on, telling me to plug it into an outlet, and now it seems to be charging normally. Is this normal, or should I be thinking about exchanging the unit?
