I bought my 7" Tab 2.0 last may and put a 16 Gb SD card in. When I go under Settings/Storage it recognizes the card with Total Space of 14.83 Gb and Available space in the same amount. No programs seem to utilize the card at all, which obviously causes memory issues from time to time. I've formatted the card usint the Tab 2.0 and obviously will give permission for any programs to use the external card but it seems to be a no go. Am I missing something here? Thanks.

The tablet installs apps only to the internal memory. The SD Card can be used to hold all your movies, music, pictures, ebooks, etc.

Yes, but after 8 months there was 0 data stored on the SD card, which seems very strange.

1) Perhaps you need to understand that there is a 'built-in' SD card (yes it's a dumb/confusing name). The micro card that you inserted is called the 'external SD card'.

2) When (if) you copy pictures/movies/books/whatever to the tablet, put them onto the external SD card.

3) Some of the apps (eg the camera) can be told to store their results on the external SD card. But the app itself will remain in the internal storage.

Otherwise, the SD card will continue to be empty.

I understand this and always select the option to store on the external SD card for programs that give the choice, but using My Files and other programs shows no data on the card at all, only directory called LOST.DIR, which is empty. I would suspect that the card was defective if it wasn't recognized by the OS. It DOES show up under storage (extSdCard, along with sdcard0).

I was just able to get some files saved onto the SD card by taking some pictures, but Spotify still insists on saving to the main memory and I can't even FIND a setting in Spotify or most (but not all) programs to choose where to save memory. It's as if most programs just see the memory as a single pool and are using the built-in memory first.

Unfortunately, I suspect that most programs use the built-in memory ONLY.
