As the moderator is hinting, your tab is still most likely taking a trickle charge especially while your screen is off.

Thanks for the feedback. The suggestion that the tab is looking for a Samsung charger sounds plausible, but mean of Samsung to incorporate this in the software update. Looking after its own interests, it seems !!

Hi frnds,I own a sgt p1000 for around 1 year now.All was fine till about 5 hrs back when i put my sgt for charging through wall socket. The battery was 30% when i connected it to the charger and went for some work.
Coming back after 3hrs i found it to be charging, unplugged it and found the battery showing the same 30%.Bam:o
Connnected the tab to pc and there it doesnt charge, though the mass storage mode works flawlessly.I powered down the tab and tried charging and its still stuck at 30% after about an hour.
The battery indicator shows its charging, also in the device status it shows charging but in reality it isnt as the battery is stuck at 30%.
Also when its plugged into the wall socket it doesnt discharge neither does it charge.
Everything was fine till about a few hours back:(
Plz suggest some remedies, will be highly appreciated.

have you recently updated your Tab ? ..... Tab takes a while to re-write Battery Data after an update
could be a Faulty wall charger, if you have the "slot together 2 part socket" try parting them, check the contacts & put together again
(altenativly try another charger if available)
could be a problem with the USB cable ( try another if available)
there are numerous other things that can cause problems, see previous posts in :- http://www.thegalaxy...indpost__p__496

Thanks for the reply.
Havent updated the tab.The usb cable seems to be ok as data transfer on pc is working.Yes its a two part charger, the wall socket is ok as i have been using it evryday and my mobile charges wo any probs. The battery meter moves to show charging but the battery just wont charge:angry:
I discharged it to 25% and tried but now its stuck there. While using on mains it doesnt discharge, thats some relief:D
Dont have a spare charger or another tab to test.

I have tried all kind of chargers in my van, the only one which actually worked and wasn't official charger was bought from dealxtreme.com or something but it broke within a month. so I def recommend official products for such devices.

That happens a lot.....
Switch it off completely before charging, and don't leave it on over night, just until it bleeps.........and then see what you've got...

I read a topic about usb charging either by partially plugging in the usb plug or using a a piece of paper to block the middle two contacts on the plug. The other day I was is in the car in desperate need of juice for my tab and I have just a cheap usb cigarette lighter universal charger so I decided to try this trick and with much difficulty had to do both tricks with the paper and the partial plug in but it worked and started charging my tab. It wasnt easy but did work but i think it was user norweigian s post. Thanx and if not his post thanx where its due.

Yea I know my tab is my like my third kid who I didnt have to watch my gf give birth to and feed everyday so I dont like do anything potentially harmful to it if it would of fried it id still be cryin. I wouldnt reccomend anyone doing it and should have stated so but desperate times called for desperate measures and read this thread and thought it my expierience my interest a couple ppl but realize how bad id feel settin someone up for failue so those who read my post attempt it at your own risk but it did work for me even drivin down the very rough roads I live on out in the sticks. Its best to just buy a guarenteed official Samsung product without a doubt.

I have had my original Galaxy tab since march of 2011. I have never had problems with it before, but noticed about 2 months ago that the battery icon would look to be about 50% or so and when I would go to say the calculator all of a sudden my tab would beep and I would get the warning you have less than 3% of battery available, connect charger. I would do so and within 30 mins to an hour it would be fully charged, when usually it would take longer. That charge, depending on what I was doing would last anywhere from a day to maybe 2 days. Then it would do the same thing over again, battery icon gets to about 50%, going through settings the actual battery reading would be about 52, I open a non-draining app (something like calculator or even calendar) and then it says batter is at 3%.
If I let it drain completely then it will take close to 3 maybe 4 hours to charge it back up and everything works fine until the next charge when the half drained battery becomes fully drained. I have checked all running processes and there's nothing there that I can see that should be draining it, no additional processes that look suspicious.
Now it's gotten to the point where I have put it on the charger for the last 2 days at odd times (the battery drains faster than it should after getting a full charge) because it no longer seems to be charging. The first time I put it on, it took roughly 6 hours to charge from 38% to 100%. Before I took it off the charger it said charging completed, and the battery icon in the notifications said 100%. The second I took it off the battery icon showed that it was only half charged and when I went to settings it said 44%. I ran a few power draining apps to drain it completely and put it on the charger, every so often I would check it and noticed it stopped charging once the battery hit 44%. It just stalls out and goes no where no matter how long I keep it plugged in.
I've taken it to different places to find out why it is draining and no one can tell me why. My husband has a tab as well, bought at the same time as mine and his is fine. I have even switched the chargers and plugs around and nothing seems to work to make my battery go above 44%. I'm hoping this is just a temp issue and maybe there was an update that I might have missed that will help. Or if anyone has any other suggestions, that I haven't already tried would be a great help.
Like I said I switch off apps that I don't need to keep battery from draining, I don't run wi-fi 24/7 (roughly 2 hours), I don't use bluetooth, settings are at battery saving levels for screen, I also don't auto light. I have switched chargers with my husband, even the wall plug and nothing seems to work. This has also been going on for about a week. And when searching all I can see is battery not charging at all, which is not my problem, I can get a charge just not a full one anymore.
Thanks in Advanced

If you have deleted the last App you put on before this problem started and you still have it, then sadly I think it maybe time to try a reset. Don't forget to back up your data first.

Thanks! I forgot to mention the first place i took it to, they actually tried that, and it charged once fully, drained almost as fast as it charged. Then went back to the 44% charge. They suggested maybe I missed a firmware or another update, but I haven't seen if a new one came out around the time my issue started.
Edited to say: they did the factory at the store. I'll try the hard reset to see if that works. Crossing fingers. Thanks. Although, if you ask my hubby, it's just par for the course with me, electronics and me do not mix, something that last years with someone else. 2 months with me and it malfunctions somehow (through no fault of my own, lol)

When was the last time to connected your tab up to Kies to see if there were any upgrades?
I'm assuming you are still on Froyo, so you may have a GB update waiting.
Personally as yours is 15/16 months old, I would have a go at trying to get your retailer to look at it FOC, it's always worth a flutter of your eye lashes.

My last hook up for Kies was right before I did the original post. I'm not sure it worked, or maybe there were no updates to be found cause it said it was connected and looking for 10 mins with no progress before I exited out of it. I'm going to try to take it back to the original store, the last one I took it to, when they did the factory reset they messed it up somehow and even though everything was backed up, it never restored after turning it on, there was a MTP (?) malfunction when it went to retrieve the backup and they forced closed it from the task manager. I have yet to figure out how to restore that backup. I haven't done the hard reset yet, since the battery drained to 3% and it's charging now. *Sigh* I might just give this one up as a lost cause and upgrade to the 10.1. Thanks again.
