Hi fellow Notaries,
I am having trouble finding suitable alternative ringtones - or rather, installing them when I find them.
I find the supplied alarm and notification tones on the Note a bit anaemic, and have missed calls as a result. I downloaded a set (Business Ringtones by Aura) from the Market, listened to them, chose a few - and then could not link them to the associated events. Reading the manual - helpfully supplied by the moderators - did not help matters.
Is there some sort of trick in 2.3.5 to link up to new tones ?

not sure with the "Note" but have you checked Settings, Sound, Volume ..... & set the incoming call volume to Max, the same with Notification Volume
also with the Tab 7, opening the stock music player, long press on an mp3 & a pop-up selection box allows you to "set as" with a choice of voice call ringtone, video call ringtone, caller ringtone & alarm tone ........... does not have to be mp3 song, you can load mp3 sounds to use for ringtones
then there is the option to check Android Market for "ringtones" in search to find apps that are compatible with the "Note", description & user reviews should help

Very easy to use whatever piece of music or sound clip you have as a ring tone.
Open the app "Music" and find a song you like (you can put any music or sound clip you like in a folder and it will appear in the "Music" app) Hold your finger down on the music/sound you want to use and select "Set as" from the popup menu. This then lets you set the music/sound as a ringtone or alarm.
You can make yourself a louder tone using a wave sound editor and simply save it to a folder on the phone and use as you will,
Hope that helps
Derek

Thanks, guys, for the suggestions about the noises. I will scratch around and see what I can find.
Myself, I don't care for snatches of music to tell me things - probably because I like Basie and Billie
Holliday, and they don't include many punchy tunes in the collections I have
I was hoping for a neat little app to do all the work, but I must see this as an opportunity for personal growth.

Wow this a good one..Thumbs Up!!!
I also want to change my ringtone, is it required to root to do this?
Cause i found 1 website to change "S Planner and Email Notification Sound".
It look awesome and easy but required root. That make me pull back as I new to Android.
Is it possible to do like this without root? here

No rooting required. just make any sound you like (doesn't have to be a song - I Like Worms, Incomming!!) and do as above. You can set as a ring tone or alarm
