On my P1000 running Gingerbread 2.3.3 I decided to root it and then had a field day clearing out unwanted apps including the phone.apk etc!

Since then I regularly see the above error message usually attributed to Google Services Framework. It would appear I deleted something I shouldn't  An online search suggested clearing the cache in Google Services Framework or turning off all Sync settings but it is not a long term solution. The wi-fi also is turned off occasionally for no reason.

What please may I have deleted in error?

here is a list of apps 'safe to freeze', (safer than un-installing), there is also a list 'DO NOT FREEZE ANY OF THESE, OR YOUR TABLET MAY BECOME UNSTABLE.'

Apps safe to freeze on Galaxy Tab with Gingerbread 2.3.3 ROM :- http://forum.xda-dev...ight=block+apps

if you see any apps listed that you have un-installed, which they advise not to, make a list & post again again here

Thanks for that, just what I needed! Of the "Apps part of making Android work" the following are missing:
PhoneSetupWizard
Error
PhoneUtil

I also appear to have deleted SMS/MMS Prefs.

checkout SamFirmware :- http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/

for a fresh copy of Gingerbread Android 2.3.3 or 2.36 (I am running a Custom Rom 2.3.6 P1000XWJQ8 CSC P1000HNJQ1, which appears to be 'Netherlands', but has UK Language & Settings)
these will be Stock Roms, Unrooted & should return your Tab to as it was (with Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 or 2.3.6)

or see 'Overcome 7 Series v4.1.0' for a Custom Rom, rooted :- http://www.thegalaxy...dpost__p__49568
for a rooted custom rom

Thanks Bart.

Is it not possible just to download and re-install the missing apps? ;) Otherwise, will pursue your line of thought!! I installed CWM when I rooted it, would that help?

CWM would have helped, if you had done a Nandroid backup after you installed-it and before you delete anything from /system/apps and/or /data/apps.

Somehow, don't ask me how, I managed to get my P1000 up and running again and better than before! :)
