This is the second time I've had this problem. Any app I bring up will launch and run fine as long as no keyboard call is made. Chrome can launch pages by clicking on bookmarks, can read and highlight PDFs in Acrobat reader works . But as soon as I try to invoke the keyboard in an app, that app stops, e.g., "Unfortunately, Chrome has stopped".

Circumstances where this happens, consistently when the application makes a call to the keyboard:
Tapping URL box in Chrome
Tapping search icon in Google Play
Opening note for editing in Evernote
Reporting a stopped app! "Unfortunately, Market Feedback agent has stopped"

The first time this happened I was using the Samsung Keyboard. Last time the only thing I could do to solve the problem was to do a full factory data reset, wiping everything and starting fresh. Ridiculous. I can't trust the device to store any data, notes, etc. now, because I don't know when it's going to crash and wipe out everything requiring a reset. Nothing is rooted, this is samsung galaxy tab 2 p3100 ICS v4.0.4

ppplllzzzzz help me outt....
Thanx in advance :good:

That is odd. You'd think the factory reset would have "fixed" any issues. Have you tried updating the firmware?

when you did the Factory Reset, did you have the 'Automatic Restore' box checked ?,
if so, try a Factory Reset with it un-checked & run your Tab with no apps downloaded for a while,
to see if the problem occurs with the keyboard again,
if its fixed, download the apps you want, one at a time & run after each download, to see if its an app causing the problem

1. From the Home screen, Settings, Privacy.
(check the box "Back up my data", Un-check the box "Automatic Restore", this can be checked again after the reset,
but may restore the settings/data that was causing problems)
2. Touch Factory data reset, then follow the prompts to perform the reset.

download 'ES File Explorer File Manager' :- https://play.google....251bGwsMSwyLDNd

run & open Settings, Manager, App Manager, .... long press one of the apps, select all, long press again, select Backup,
this will give you a new folder 'backups' containing a folder 'apps' with all your apps in there (with data)

copy the 'backups' folder to your PC, you can copy the apps back to Tab one at a time, after Factory Reset as above

Are you by any chance side-loading any apps? Some side-loaded apps may install fine, but might not be compatible with the tab when you run them.
Assuming you are running "proper" apps (from the Google Play store and known to be compatible), I would personally do the following:

  • Hook up the tablet to a PC/Mac running Kies and get any updates available. Who knows, there may be an update to resolve a possible issue like you are having. Not saying there is, but it's best to stay up to date when possible.
  • Back up any data like videos, pics, music, etc to the external SD Card and remove it (use the unmount feature though).
  • Do the factory restore as Bart Laroc suggested, but I would even get rid of settings/data just in case there is something there that is causing issues. Might as well start with a clean slate.
  • Assuming it restores fine, run with the stock setup for a few days and see if the keyboard issue comes back. Then, install an app at a time waiting a few days in between to see if it's a specific app causing the problem. Yeah, that's a pain to have to do this, but it's the only way to isolate any problems.

with the 'backups' folder on the Tab again after the Factory Reset,
open the backup/apps folder, tap an app & you get the pop-up page to Install

I'm sure the data is saved, backed-up & re-installs,
but to double check for yourself, perform the back-up,
un-install the least important app for you on the Tab,
then re-install it from your backup folder & see for yourself the data is intact

you can delete the 'backup' folder later if you wish, myself I keep the 'backup' folder,
because if you get an update for an app in the 'Play-Store' & it doesn't work for some reason,
you still have the pre-update copy that does work, in your backup folder

ok, will leave it with you to decide then, if you want to avoid downloading data for games again,
or having the ability to use the keyboard without crashing
