I haven't been to this forum in a long time. I sort of gave up on Samsung and its ignoring of the GT-P1010 from the first day it came out.
Here is my question.

I just upgraded to the latest version of KIES. Version 2.3.2.12064_10.
I want to find out if there is the possibility of a firmware upgrade and to back up, etc.
Kies isn't seeing my GT-P1010, so I did the "Troubleshoot Connection Error" thing and it
appeared to download the latest drives, so my GT-P1010 can be seen.
No problems with any of this.
Later, when I plugged in my GT-P1010 to my Windows 7 laptop, I received an error
window telling me that my device is not compatible with Kies uploaded the screen print
of the error in this message.

Can someone please tell me that status of KIES and my GT-P1010 ?

Which version of android are you on ????? it would help us to know.


I can tell you that, that version of Kies is fine on my HC 3.2 7plus

P1010 is Froyo. Am traveling so no experience with kies upgrade

I completed a Samsung survey and made it clear that lack of upgrades would put them out of the running for future purchases. The survey was geared more toward phones but I have both, neither being upgraded ( cell carrier assured me and upgrade was imminent), and I wrote in extra comments Probably have them worried now. Yeah, right. But so far I've influenced 3 people away from Samsung for cell phone upgrades.

It is very true that some early FROYO tablets just didn't get upgraded by Samsung. I had had my P1000 13 months when I gave up waiting and got the GB upgrade else where.

With all the new models coming out so quickly after that, I didn't expect that Samsung would spend any more time on upgrades for the older devices. So I was lucky enough to be able to pass my old tab on and buy a newer model.


Is your main problem now that you want to connect to KIES to do data backup etc ?
or
Are you really looking to upgrade you tab's OS ?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab – WiFi only – GT-P1010. From U.S.

I am ready to Root and (if possible) Upgrade to Gingerbread.
For those who have successfully done this, PLEASE help.
Please be gentle with me, for I have never done this before with any type of device. Therefore the products referenced will be new to me.

Can the steps taken to root my GT-P1010 be laid out for me? Including recommendations for backup up. I want to be very cautious in doing this.

I assume that if I am considering finding a way to upgrade to Gingerbread, that I would have to Root my GT-P1010 first.

You don't necessarily have to root your Tab to update your OS....

If an official update is available, and you have a PC, try installing Samsung Kies software on your PC. ( Available from the Samsung website )

Run Kies, then connect your Tab to your PC via the USB portion of your mains charging lead....

Kies will detect your Tab and inform you if an update is available, and assist you in downloading and installing it.

If an update isn't available, then you may have to root your Tab and install a Custom ROM...... but beware....you should read and understand the instructions fully, that are posted with a Custom Rom, and you should have at least, a basic knowledge of of Computers and Tablets.

I have the same problem with my GT-P1010.Current KIES cannot find the GT-P1010.
If there away to:

• Upgrade Android Version [from what ?]
