I just bought a TAB and am using android for the first time.

The problem is I cant find the close button for browser and most of the other apps in Galaxy TAB.
Currently to close browser, I goto the home screen and force shutdown of browser from the active applications app selecting end application button.

Would appreciate if anyone can help me to a better and less crude method of closing apps and browsers.

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes Exit is available on the Menu button.

Other times the back button will exit an App.

Unfortunately, program shut down in Android is a hit and miss thing.....it's not a Tab thing.

At present, the only other options are, as you mentioned, via the Active Apps widget, or there are App Killer programs on the Market.

By the way........

Welcome to the forum......... :D

hit the return icon next to the home button at the bottom to exit the apps, it will work with the browser aswell but may take you back a page or so first.

Android will/ should take care of closing the applications for you as and when required.

So.... you've never had to close an App down via the Active App widget ?

Never really bother anymore. Did have a task killer on my android phone for a while, but got annoyed with it.

I don't have a problem with apps being left running. Sometimes get annoyed that they have shut down in the background though after not using for a bit and have to reopen the browser tabs for example.

Try the 'task manager' in your home screen and end which ones you want to close, this stops them running in the background. ;)

I'm new to Galaxy Tab and to Android os. This is my 2nd day with the tab. I am having the same problem exiting the browswer. When I hit the return button at the bottom I get error message 'The page you are trying to view contains data that has already been submitted 'post data'. If I select the home screen it appears to close the browser, but when I reopen the browser it opens directly to the last page I was on instead of the home page. How can I make it go back to the home internet page when I reopen the browser?

Try using miren or dolphin browser, far more like a pc browser and more intuitive.
