What on earth am I doing wrong? follwed the instructions word for word but the 'delete' rubbish bin does NOT appear on my screen when I have photo selected. it doesnt matter if photo a single on or in an album the rubbish icon doesnt appear. HOWEVER if I go take a photograph then go into gallery the NEW photo has the rubbish icon appear - Im stumped!! any help greatly appeciated. thanks

I can only give you the simplest answer, if this doesn't work you have a problem.
When in Gallery, with an individual photo selected, no icons will show.
The option icons to share, delete etc only become visible when you tap the screen in a certain area. On my 7 plus that's a hidden menu bar at the top of the screen.
Have you tried to find hidden menu bars.

I use Quickpic too, its a good app. I'm really puzzled about where your trash bin is, can you let me know if ever you find it please.

If you have synced an online photo library like Picasa to your Google account, they will appear in your gallery within a folder that has the online library icon in the corner
For Picasa it's a segmented circle in the image on the left. These can be deleted via the online source or un-shared from your Google account.

I have a Sansumg Tab 8.9 with 32GB. When using the Samsung Gallery to display images I have two problems. First is that I create a different album for each event and would like to display them in the order that they were taken, first image taken displays first. Gallery always shows the last image taken first. Samsung support said, after a very long wait, there is no way to change the order of display!
Second and most important is when images are displayed they are not really sharp until I use two fingers to zoom the image slightly. Then the images are sharp even when reduced back to normal size. This has to be done to each image to get truly sharp images. The same images displayed on an IPad II are always sharp and require no adjustments.
I haven't tried Sansumg Support for help on the sharpness issue because I was less than impressed about their response on the display order issue. I would like to use the Tab 8.9 to display images to clients but the way it performs now that is impossible. Is there a fix to this problem or better image viewer available somewhere?

Install the App Quickpic, it will deal with all your organisational issues.
Alternatively, re number them on your pc and then transfer them back to the Gallery app by connecting the tab as a hard drive not via Kies .

The image quality issue is a fault, hopefully someone else in here can help you with that

Thanks for the reply, I've already tried batch renumbering two sets of files and they are still displayed in reverse order, last first and first last. According to Samsung support there is no fix for starting the display with the first photo. I told them there should be a firmware fix for that error and he said he'd make a note of it. Between problems with Kies (which I never use now)and Gallery, Samsung software leaves much to be desired.

Actually, if you load your photos onto your tab via Kies starting at the the bottom of the list and working up (backwards) they do load in the correct order. I have done this.
On your pc, if you call your first photo 100 and number consecutively from there, 101 102 103 etc, they go in in order.
Quickpic also has four different ways of re ordering your photos, including adjustment of date for modifications and date taken on , so your photos end up in order easily.
I do agree with you, the gallery App is not as good as it should be and we hardly get any updates to it (if any)but maybe you just need to experiment a bit more.
I have over 2000 photos on my tab in 20 plus albums and the majority of them tell the story in the exact order I want.

Samsung Gallery only displays image series as last image first no matter how you select them. It also refuses to create multiple albums. Instead it create one album and them loads all other images into that one album no matter how you load the images unless you load directly from USB then the albums are displayed at lower resolution until you expand each image slightly.
I found that Gallery is totally responsible for all these blunders. I removed Gallery from my Tab 8.9 and loaded the viewer Quick Pix. All problems went away and images are displayed in the correct order taken and at high resolution.
My results were confirmed by Samsung Support.

I am glad you found the App I suggested, QuickPic usefull. It is certainly more flexible than the pre installed gallery app and allows for album creation and transfer.
However there is more you can do within Gallery if you use your pc to manipulate and number your photos differently.
Mulltiple albums are very straight forward to do.

NB - for other members following this thread, you may find the following topic extension of interest
Alternatively......AS a one off, on the pc create albums titles.
Album A
Album B
etc etc
Then as you take your photos on your travels, you can move them from your DCIM folder using MY files, into any of those untitled albums which now are in your gallery app.

photo's taken on the Tab are usually stored in the DCIM Folder,
in Gallery you should be able to view a photo, tap the screen & the 'bin' should appear as an option,
(although I now use 'QuickPic' from Play Store :- https://play.google....251bGwsMSwyLDNd )
(this lists photo's by folder & shows the folder location path)
photo's you have transferred to your Tab from other sources, will be stored either in 'download' or a folder you chose on transferring,
the stock 'My Files' is again lacking, in my opinion & i use 'ES File Explorer File Manager' from Play Store :- https://play.google....mRyb2lkLnBvcCJd
Instant Uploads
Gallery stores pics in a cache, these are not cleared for "Instant uploads" & any pics you view from, DropBox, Picasa G+ etc
these have to be cleared from "Instant uploads" at source on, DropBox, Picasa G+ etc
goto dropbox, Picas or G+, open the 'Instant Upload' Folder & clear Pictures in there
once cleared from source, on Tab try, Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, All, .... scroll to "Gallery" & tap, tap "force stop", tap "Clear Data"
return to HomeScreen & open Gallery to see if pics are gone
(Gallery should make a fresh cache of pics that are just on your Tab)
any photo's in 'Instant Uploads' can not be deleted on your Tab, you have to go to the Source program (& delete the photo's from there, or move them to a different folder)

Apart from some photos whiting out on gallery (ok on quickpic) and you are right you have to zoom a bit then come back to get full resolution up to the device pixels display.
quickpic would be the answer but gallery does display photos with full screen quicpic does not the bottom blacked out bar reduces the size and because the whole picture is downsized because of it, the gallery picture is 25% bigger on my 3:2 photos its just a shame that the Gallery App is not sorted and updated.

The gallery App has recently changed in 4.1.2 on my S3 but none of our issues/complaints have been addressed, especially the back to front ordering of photos
