hey all, i also have this problem.
I have the GT P5100 model .
after many fustrating calls to samsung & visits to JB HIFI & harvey norman i can tell you that these models are not compatable with hooking up to your HDTV .
im so disapointed as thats the reason that i purchased one & the fella who sold me it also sold me the HDTV adapter & told me that it will work no worries!!!
.
The most fustrating thing has been trying to convince the very people who make this tablet that it wont stream to a tv as advertised & that the retailers who are selling these things have no idea that they dont!

THERE IS NO COMPATABLE CABLE OR ADAPTER FOR THIS MODEL TABLET ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD ( FEELS SO GOOD TO GET THAT OUT :))!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i recieved this email today from samsung.

Hi Ben,

http://www.samsung.c..._Sheets_FIN.pdf

The link you have sent, is not from Samsung Australia. Unfortunately, the HDMI cable (it is different from Tab 1) for Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5100 is not available from Samsung Australia now. So, the HDMI cable you have bought from JB Hi fi is not the right HDMI cable for Tab 2 and not compatible. If JB Hi FI has told you it is the correct HDMI cable for Tab 2 GT-P5100, that information is not correct.

You can contact our Samsung store 02 8076 7777 to inquiry about the availability of the HDMI cable (it is different from Tab 1) for Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5100 later.

Thank you for contacting Samsung Mobile Support.

I WISH I HAD BROUGHT A ASUS...........................

New to the forum & Galaxy Tab.

I'm trying to connect my GT-P5100 to my LG HD tv. I have the Galaxy Tab HDTV Adapter and when all connect I get the "bell" sound to show connected by nothing shows on screen just a no signal sign. I've tried search for a solution but nothing works. I've tried on both a LG & Sony tv with same problem. Can anyone suggest anything to help?

I'm bitterly disappointed at the fact that the Tab 2 GT-P5110 cannot be hardwired to a TV hdmi connection despite Samsung's website suggesting it can with their HDTV Adaptor (see Samsung's UK website). This is a major failure on Samsung's part. Does anyone know of a workaround, please?

Unfortunately, your particular model doesn't work with the advertised HDTV Adaptor. I made the same mistake and am now furious about Samsung's misleading advertisement for the adaptor. I've spoken twice to technical support (in Cairo!!) and to customer service in Gateshead UK but have got nowhere. I'm awaiting a further call from customer service for their views about the misleading nature of their UK website adaptor advertisement.

Got my samsang galaxy tab 2 10.1 the other day.

Really impressed, however I would like to this to my tv.

Version Gt-P5110 to tv via hdmi. (if possible)

I want to watch netflix etc via the tab to tv.

Cannot seem to find a way to do this.

Also sky go is not supported?

Tried contacting samsung via email and no response.

Tried calling and all they said is I need a Allshare samung TV? (not buying a new tv)

Anyone got any solutions to this, which I thought would be quite a simple task.

This is a major feature for portable devices to connect to a tv via HDMI.

Why has'nt samsung fixed this problem? Why are they ignoring it too?

Anyone had any joy streaming netflix, iplayer etc from Gt-P5110 to tv?

I have a Samsung Tab 2 10.1 which I have tried to connect to my Samsung Smart TV using a Samsung HDTV Adapter P30pin and HDMI cable. I keep getting a message 'No Signal' on my TV. when I select the HDMI port the Tab is connected to. HDMI 2 has my Sky box connected to it and that is working fine. I also note that HDMI 1 and 3 are not highlighted on the TV for selction.

Damn, Damn, Damn. I spent all yesterday trying to get the HDTV adapter to work. Now I find that this adapter won't work on the Tab 2. I think JB's in New Zealand should have known about this before selling me both the Tab 2 and the adapter. Has anyone tried connecting with the AV adaptor? I feel like taking both items back to JB's and asking for a refund under the Customer Gaurantee Act as it can't do what I have specifically asked that it could do

Hi I have tried the AV adaptor and sorry does not work either! ...There is nothing out there from Samsung allowing you to connect to your TV at the mo. Well I say nothing .. If you have a new TV with DLNA connected to a wifi router then no problem you can connect your Sammy Tab without wires! But if not then its a BIG NO ...And thats what I got from Samsung Help Desk. But who want to buy a new TV just for that! You could try the AllShare Cast Hub or HTC Media Player ..these both use wifi direct to connect to a device which streams via HDMI to your TV, but again both manufactures say these item are ONLY compatible with a few of their wifi products! Take the Samsung Cast Hub ..compatible with only the SIII or Note 10.1 ...why not the Tab 2 10.1 I hear you say ...god knows. These two items both have AllShare Cast software installed where the Tab 2 does not! we just get Allshare play which so I was told by Samsung can not connect with the hub. Iam sure many people wished they had now got another device that has got a dedicated HDMI outport OR dare i say it ..an ipad!!! yeah your locked in with just mp4 film play back and no micro usb but at least you can buy a RCA cable or Airplay to connect to your TV.

From Samsung Mexico told me that the HDMI adapter works but only using also an original Samsung high speed HDMI cable with the HDMI adapter. I have not tried this yet

Don't bother ! unless it's the GT-P5113, It doesn't have an HDMI out capability :nea:

As previously stated...... Allshare/Wifi is the only way to stream media to your TV, which MUST be a "smart" TV with DNLA certification.....

I am going to Turkey in a couple of months, and as the tv in my apartment only has three channels on it, I would like to stream English channels from my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (GT-P5110TSABTU to the tv. Does anyone know what adaptor I will need please? The tv has both HDMI and USB points.

The HDMI Adaptor EPL-3PHPBEG is NOT compatible with GT-P5110.
For information there are 2 versions of this tablet.
[EDIT] Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Forum GT-P5100 GT-P5110 (GT-P5113 usa) - state Tab Model Number & Android Version
Model GT-P5113 is the US version, which is compatible with the HDMI Adaptor and allows it to connect via cable to a TV.
It also has an Infra Red (IR)blaster (transmitter) on the front edge which allows it to act as a remote control for a TV,
using a Peel App on the tablet.
Model GT-P5110, which is for everywhere else. It does not physically have an IR blaster fitted and is NOT compatible with the HDMI
adaptor for TV connection.
Your Model No can be found in "Settings". Scroll down to "About device"
I am one of the lucky ones who has had a reply from Samsung!! the exact wording of the reply was:-
"Please note, in order to display the Samsung Tab 2 on your HDTV you will require a SMART Hub enabled Samsung device.
Both devices must be connected to your home network in order to connect properly. If your Samsung TV does not have SMART Hub,
you can use either a Samsung Blu-Ray Player, or Samsung Set Top Box that has this feature instead."
Galaxy Tab Model: 2 10.1
Galaxy Tab Number: GT-P5110

Is this because of hardware or software? If P5113 rom would be installed to P5110, will that add hdmi support?

Can anyone give me authoritative information about finding a way to connect my new Tab 2 10.1 via HDMI cable to a TV? There seems to be some doubt about whether this is possible at all. Thanks.

That's a very easy one ...... There is NO HDMI output on a Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5100 or GT-P5110 period.....
