how do i switch to the front camera to take pictures on my tab

Tabs are usually set for the front camera as default.

Have you looked in the USER MANUAL for the answer ???

When you are in camera mode, you will see an icon that looks like on camera, 2nd one down. Press that and it switches from front camera to self portrait (rear camera).

Samsung Support, Create a Samsung Account, Register your Product
(settings, about device, status, scroll down for Serial Number)

& why not edit your profile signature to include your Tab model, tap your "UserName" (top of screen),
tap "My Profile", tap "Edit my profile", tap "Change Signature" :-
ADD :- your Galaxy Tab Model Number
