I've owned a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 for several years now recently discontinued my service with Verizon. The tab has 3/G and Wifi capability, but (of course) only works on Wifi now. I've had some problems with a lot of force closed apps. lately and tried to do a soft factory reset and a hard factory reset of which neither worked. Over the years, I have downloaded numerous apps and would like to clear everything out - back to factory beginning but every time I do a reset and reboot, all of my apps. still remain. I called Samsung with the problem and their only suggestion was to send the Tab to them for evaluation at $79.00 plus. Any suggestions before I do that would be greatly appreciated.

it sounds as if you have the box checked for "Automatic Restore", try a Factory Data Reset, with that box un-checked,

Use Factory data reset to return your device to its factory defaults. This setting erases all data from your device, including
your Google or other email account settings, system and application data and settings, and downloaded applications. After
a reset, you’ll be prompted to set up your device the next time you turn it on.

1. From the Home screen, Settings, Privacy.
(check the box "Back up my data", Un-check the box "Automatic Restore", this can be checked again after the reset,
but may restore the settings/data that was causing problems)
2. Touch Factory data reset, then follow the prompts to perform the reset.

Bart,

Thank you for your reply to my query... I followed your instructions exactly but after the reboot, my tablet still had all the apps. on the apps. page. Someone else suggested doing a flash. I am new to the electronics world and am not sure what he means by flashing. Can you or anyone else help me with that?

Thank you in advance.

I also have this nagging issue, and i have done everything i could find online to purge this Tab (even screwed up the verizon kernel which now it cant activate) it retains my information for skype and google regardless of what i do.... i am tempted to use it as target practice at the gun range =@ but thought i would give it another shot at somehow fixing it.
also, apps dont delete and lots of forced app closures. Thanks!!

I am having the same problem even after the restores. I cannot get to the Desktop due to the numerous Force Closure alarms. SGT SCH-1800; S/W V2.2
