did you download & save to your PC :-
The Samsung Note User Manual http://downloadcente...1104_Screen.pdf
Kies for Windows or Kies for MAC http://www.samsung.c...ftware/KIES/JSP
the Samsung Note music player supports the following file formats:
mp3, m4a, mp4, 3gp, 3ga, wma, ogg, oga, aac, and flac.
The Samsung Note video player supports the following file formats:
3gp, mp4, avi, wmv, flv, and mkv (Codecs: MPEG4, H.263, Sorenson H.263, H.264, VC-1, and DivX/XviD).
(The video recording has various resolution options like 1920×1080, 1280×720, 720×480, 640×480, 320×240 and 176×144)
are you using the Internal Memory to store files or an SD Card ?

The note plays mp3 fine from sd or internal memory. Are your files copy protected by any chance ??
