Verizon Galaxy Tab 7.0 USB Host?

I know there's a USB host adapter for the Galaxy Tab 7 Plus and above and it always says that the 7.0 (SHC-I800) is not compatible and I want to know why because if is a OS issue than that means I can upgrade to a compatible Android OS. I'm about to go to a Verizon store to buy an adapter but I want to make sure I can use it.
